Three days later, I received a call from the production team of "Long Night."
"Qin Wan, congratulations! The role is yours," the director's voice was filled with excitement.
I tightened my grip on the phone, struggling to suppress the urge to scream.
This was my first leading role since my rebirth, and it held significant meaning for me.
"Thank you for your trust, Director. I won't let you down," I replied.
"Your performance revealed the soul of this character," the director said.
After two months of filming, we finally wrapped up the project, receiving unanimous praise from my colleagues in the crew.
Just as we were celebrating the completion of the new drama, Gu Yan's call suddenly came through.
"Congratulations, Qin Wan," his voice was gentle and sincere.
"Thank you," I said with a smile.
"Actually, I have a new project," Gu Yan's tone suddenly became hesitant. "I'm preparing a new movie and would like to invite you to be the lead actress."
I was taken aback.
The lead actress? This was something I wouldn't have dared to dream of in my past life.
I excitedly asked, " Director Gu, is this role suitable for me?"
"Absolutely," he replied.
"In fact, I thought of you when I wrote this character. She is strong and independent, having faced setbacks yet still maintaining her love for life."
Isn't that exactly who I am now?
"Alright, I accept," I replied without hesitation.
A week later, Gu Yan's new film project officially kicked off, and the crew held the first script reading session.
In the conference room, I sat next to Gu Yan, diligently flipping through the script.
It was a story about an actress who finds new life, strikingly similar to my own experiences.
"Hello everyone," Gu Yan stood up and scanned the room.
"Today marks our first script reading session. This film is very special to me, and I hope each of you can fully immerse yourselves in it."
As the reading began, I became completely absorbed in my character.
When we reached the scene where the female lead is betrayed, my voice involuntarily trembled, and tears nearly spilled from my eyes.
"Hold on a moment," Gu Yan suddenly said. "Qin Wan, your performance just now was incredible. The suppressed pain, the struggle against despair—that is the essence of this character."
Applause erupted in the conference room, and I noticed admiration in the eyes of the other actors.
After the reading concluded, Gu Yan asked me to stay behind.
"Qin Wan, what are your thoughts on this character?" he inquired.
"She reminds me of myself," I replied, meeting his gaze. "The pain of betrayal and the determination to rise again—I've been through all of that."
A flicker of surprise crossed Gu Yan's face, followed by a deep understanding.
"That's why you can grasp her emotions so accurately."
"Yes," I nodded.
"However, there's one scene I think we could adjust. When the female lead faces betrayal, she shouldn't only express anger and pain; there should also be a sense of calm resolve."
Gu Yan looked at me thoughtfully. "You're right, I'll consider making changes. Your understanding of the character is deeper than I imagined."
"Because I understand her," I replied softly.
As we left the conference room, the night had deepened. Gu Yan insisted on driving me home.
"Qin Wan," he suddenly said in the car, "I really admire your strength and talent. No matter how others judge you, you haven't given up on your dreams."
I turned to look out the window, hiding my reddened eyes.
How long has it been since someone acknowledged me so sincerely?
"Thank you, Director Gu," I said quietly.
"Just call me Gu Yan," he smiled, "In this film, we are partners."
Back home, I lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
My mind was filled with Gu Yan's gaze and words.
I couldn't be sure what this feeling was, but I knew that in this reborn world, Gu Yan was the first person who truly understood and supported me.
