Lin Yuan rubbed his temples, feeling a buzzing in his head that was worse than listening to a monk chant all night. "Zhao Yunyi's entrance was pretty cool, but I'm a bit confused about where this plot is heading."
Su Jiu'er remained calm, as someone who had seen her fair share of the world. "Brother Yuan, don't overthink it. Just deal with whatever comes our way. Let's first see what she's really up to."
Zhou Haoran adjusted his glasses and analyzed seriously, "Based on my observations, Zhao Yunyi's appearance is no coincidence. She likely possesses some key information, possibly related to the Qi Gong Association's conspiracy."
"Hao Ran is right," Lin Yuan nodded. "We need to proceed with caution; we can't afford to fall into a trap again."
The group followed Zhao Yunyi through a maze of twists and turns until they arrived at the headquarters of the Cultivator Community. This place was hidden deeper than a rat's hole and more complex than an underground labyrinth. Without Zhao Yunyi as their guide, Lin Yuan would probably have gotten lost until next year, and who knows, he might have ended up breeding a bunch of little rats in there.
"Welcome to our secret base, fellow cultivators! Surprised? Unexpected?" Zhao Yunyi spread her arms wide, her enthusiasm surpassing that of a welcoming hostess and even more exuberant than the Square Dance Aunt. Lin Yuan almost thought he had walked into the wrong set and stumbled into a brainwashing seminar for some pyramid scheme.
"This place is pretty well-hidden," Lin Yuan looked around; this base was more mysterious than Batman's cave and harder to find than a paparazzo's hideout. "Isn't it meant for hiding from creditors? By the way, how much debt does your community owe?"
"Brother Yuan, be serious!" Su Jiu'er reminded him helplessly. At such a critical moment, he still had time for jokes! This was about the survival of the cultivation world; couldn't he be a bit more solemn?
Zhao Yunyi ignored Lin Yuan's teasing; she had seen his antics before and went straight to the point. "Lin Yuan, I know you are the only one who can stop the Qi Gong Association's conspiracy."
"Conspiracy?" Lin Yuan raised an eyebrow; that word sounded oddly familiar. "It’s not another end-of-the-world scenario, is it? I don’t have time to save the world; I still need to deliver takeout, date, and play games!"
"Brother Yuan, can you please take this seriously!" Su Jiu'er felt like punching him; things were getting urgent, yet he remained so flippant! If it weren't for his reliability at critical moments, she would have wanted to toss him into the Qi Gong Association's lair for them to "entertain" him properly.
"Oh come on, don’t be so tense, Jiu'er," Lin Yuan said with a grin. "I’m just trying to lighten the mood here. A serious atmosphere isn’t conducive to our strategic planning." He then turned back to Zhao Yunyi with a serious expression. "Miss Zhao, please continue and elaborate on the specifics of this conspiracy."
Zhao Yunyi took a deep breath, striving to calm himself, and explained, “The ambitions of the Qi Gong Association go far beyond this. They want to control the entire cultivation world! They have secretly developed a forbidden technique called ‘Great Cosmos Shift’ that can forcibly absorb and transform others' Lingqi to enhance their own power. If they succeed, the consequences would be unimaginable!”
“Great Cosmos Shift? Such a cliché name, are you sure it’s not taken from some martial arts novel?” Lin Yuan scoffed, though his heart tightened; this was no joke. “What do they want? Weaponizing Lingqi? Mass-producing Super Saiyans? Or are they aiming for a Lingqi monopoly to sell it to us at a high price?”
“Very likely,” Zhao Yunyi nodded. “They have already begun secretly gathering forces, preparing to launch an attack against us. According to the intelligence we intercepted, they will launch a full-scale assault on us tomorrow night.”
“Tomorrow night?” Lin Yuan frowned; this was serious business. “Is the time really that tight? We need to discuss our countermeasures quickly. Jiu'er, bring out your new invention and let everyone take a look.”
Su Jiu'er nodded and pulled out a uniquely shaped metal sphere from her backpack, glowing with blue light. “This is my latest invention, the Spirit Energy Wave Detector. It can accurately locate enemy positions and measure Lingqi intensity.”
“Impressive, my Jiu'er!” Lin Yuan gave her a thumbs-up. “With this gadget, we can know ourselves and our enemies, ensuring victory in every battle!”
Zhou Haoran also seized the moment to showcase his latest medical equipment—a device that could spray green mist. “This is the Revitalizing Life Spray; it can quickly treat both external and internal injuries and can save lives in critical moments.”
“Wow, Hao Ran, your invention is practically a battlefield artifact!” Lin Yuan exclaimed. “With it, our combat effectiveness has increased by at least fifty percent!”
Zhao Yunfei pretended to express his full cooperation and promised to provide all necessary support. However, he secretly relayed Lin Yuan’s plans and the information about Su Jiu'er and Zhou Haoran’s inventions to the Qi Gong Association.
Meanwhile, Lin Yuan discreetly demonstrated his newly mastered Time-Space Manipulation ability—the ability to briefly stop the flow of time. The crowd marveled at his skill, their morale soaring.
“Everyone,” Lin Yuan surveyed the determined cultivators around him, filled with confidence. “I know we face tremendous challenges, but we must not back down! We must unite as one and confront the Qi Gong Association's schemes! For the peace of the cultivation world, for the peace of our world, for the peace of the universe, we have no choice but to fight!”
The crowd was inspired by Lin Yuan’s passionate speech and expressed their determination to battle the Qi Gong Association to the end.
Lin Yuan looked at everyone, his eyes filled with hope and determination. "Tomorrow night," he said firmly, "we will fight to the death against the Qi Gong Association!"
As soon as his words fell, an alarm suddenly blared, the piercing sound echoing throughout the entire base.
"What’s going on?" Lin Yuan's heart sank, an ominous premonition rising within him.
"Report!" a Cultivator rushed in, panic evident on his face. "The main forces of the Qi Gong Association have surrounded us!"
"What?!" Lin Yuan was taken aback. How could this be? How did they find this place so quickly?
Could it be...
He suddenly thought of Zhao Yunfei, that seemingly harmless guy. Could he be the traitor?
"Zhao Yunfei!" Lin Yuan gritted his teeth and said, "How dare you betray us!"
