Li Yunqing nodded and withdrew his hand, watching her wash the dishes without stepping outside.
Feeling Li Yunqing's gaze, Wan Hong quickened her pace a little, and before long, the dishes were done.
The two of them went outside together and found Shen Xin and Gu Qingqing already sitting on the sofa, watching TV and chattering about the plot.
Li Yunqing and Wan Hong joined them on the sofa.
Shen Xin and Gu Qingqing noticed their arrival. "Done washing? Took you a while!"
Li Yunqing nodded.
"Wan Hong is just very thorough with the dishes; that’s why it took longer," he explained.
Shen Xin glanced at Wan Hong, whose face still had a slight blush, but said nothing.
Checking his phone, Li Yunqing realized it was already past nine o'clock.
"It's past nine; let's go for a walk to digest a bit and I'll drop you all home," he suggested.
"Sounds good!"
The four of them stepped out of the house, took the elevator down, and began walking.
Feeling the evening breeze and the soft glow of the streetlights, they all felt a sense of tranquility and didn’t say much.
After a while, Li Yunqing checked his phone again; it was almost nine-thirty.
"Let’s grab a taxi; Wan Hong needs to be home by ten-thirty."
The three girls nodded in agreement, and they soon found a taxi. Wan Hong gave an address, and the car started moving.
"I'll drop you off one by one based on timing. Since Wan Hong needs to get home first, I'll take her first, then Gu Qingqing, and finally Shen Xin," he said.
The three girls didn’t think much of it and nodded in acknowledgment.
Wan Hong was somewhat prone to motion sickness; it wasn’t long before she started feeling dizzy. Noticing her discomfort from the back seat, Shen Xin pulled her into an embrace, allowing Wan Hong's head to rest on her shoulder.
"You should lean on my shoulder for a bit, Wan Hong," Shen Xin offered gently.
"Okay, thank you, Sister Shen Xin," Wan Hong replied softly.
Wan Hong spoke weakly.
"No, we're all good sisters."
Shen Xin gently patted Wan Hong's head.
Li Yunqing, sitting in the passenger seat, turned to look when she heard the conversation behind her and noticed Wan Hong leaning against Shen Xin.
"Wan Hong, are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Sensing Wan Hong's lack of energy, Li Yunqing asked the driver, "How much longer until we arrive?"
"Not long now, just a few minutes," the driver replied, glancing around.
Li Yunqing nodded. "Did you hear that? Just a few more minutes, we're almost home. Hang in there, Hong Hong."
"Okay."
Before long, they arrived at the entrance of Wan Hong's neighborhood.
Shen Xin helped Wan Hong get out of the car.
"Hong Hong, are you sure you don't want me to call your mom to come down and help you?"
Feeling the cool evening breeze, Wan Hong found her head felt much clearer. She shook her head at Shen Xin's suggestion.
"I'm fine; I feel a lot better now that I'm out of the car."
Wan Hong stepped away from Shen Xin's support and walked a couple of steps ahead. Seeing her walk normally, Shen Xin let out a sigh of relief.
Gu Qingqing and Li Yunqing also got out of the car to check on Wan Hong. When Wan Hong noticed the three of them looking at her, she smiled at them.
"You guys should head back home now; I'm good! I'm going up! Bye!"
Wan Hong waved goodbye to the three of them.
They waved back at her as they turned to leave.
"Let's go back, Hong Hong, bye!"
As Wan Hong walked into the community, the three of them returned to the car. With Wan Hong gone, only two remained in the back seat. Shen Xin and Gu Qingqing pulled Li Yunqing into the middle.
Shen Xin sat on the left, Gu Qingqing on the right, with Li Yunqing squeezed between them.
"Driver, let's go."
