The building not only had a variety of snacks but also several trendy shops. Li Yunqing casually chose one with fewer people to queue up. Before long, they were inside.
It was a self-service hot pot restaurant. Li Yunqing opted for a mushroom broth instead of a spicy one, considering that the two women had never tried spicy food before.
"How do we eat this?" Sera asked.
"This is a small pot for cooking food. Let's go get some ingredients first," Li Yunqing replied.
He led Sera and Lilu Lu around, but there wasn't much that looked appetizing. However, Sera loved fish, so Li Yunqing picked out plenty of Huang Lading for her. Lilu Lu preferred meat, so she ended up with a good amount of Beef Rolls.
Returning to their seats, Li Yunqing taught the two women how to cook. It was simple, and they quickly got the hang of it. However, they struggled with timing; often, it was Li Yunqing who had to fish their food out before it overcooked.
Seeing him constantly helping them with their food while they hardly ate anything themselves, Sera and Lilu Lu decided to feed him in return. Sera would pick up a piece and feed him, then it was Lilu Lu's turn.
"Okay, okay, no more feeding me! You two haven't eaten much yourselves," he chuckled.
"We're fine; you need to eat more," they insisted.
"Once I'm full, you can eat. I'll keep an eye on your food; otherwise, it'll overcook."
"Alright!"
Sera and Lilu Lu began eating as well. Li Yunqing fished out the cooked items and placed them in their bowls while watching them intently as they ate. He couldn't help but smile when he saw them occasionally get burned by the steam. He then went to get them some drinks.
The three enjoyed their meal together, drawing the attention of several people nearby. It was hard not to notice how beautiful the two women were, which caught many eyes.
Seeing the close interactions between Li Yunqing and the two women made some envious men glance over but remain silent. They simply raised their phones to snap a picture and posted it online, captioning it with something about being jealous of others' relationships.
In response, many commented sarcastically about how they shouldn't be bitter if they didn't even have girlfriends themselves. Frustrated by their own appetites, they quickly finished their meals and left.
The staff members were puzzled as to why the customers were eating so quickly, wondering if something was wrong, but no one spoke up, so they didn’t pay much attention to it.
Of course, Li Yunqing and his companions didn’t notice anything unusual around them; they only felt that the people nearby were eating a bit fast. The table next to them had already changed occupants twice.
The three of them fed each other and exchanged sweet words, and before they knew it, an hour had passed. The staff came over to check but didn’t mention the time since there were still available seats.
Li Yunqing and his friends took a few sips of the now-cold mushroom soup before getting up to leave. They strolled leisurely out of the mall; although it was already eight o'clock, there was still a hint of light on the horizon.
“Let’s head back; home isn’t far, and we can walk off our meal along the way.”
“Sounds good.”
Having just finished their meal and feeling a bit warm, Sera and Lilu Lu didn’t cling to Li Yunqing’s arm but instead held hands with their fingers interlocked.
Sera looked up at the crescent moon that had begun to show itself. “Honey, do you think Lilu Lu and I count as people now?”
“Of course you do; why wouldn’t you?”
“That's good to hear.”
Sera’s eyes shimmered for a moment, and she didn’t say anything more. Lilu Lu glanced at her sister but remained silent.
Li Yunqing swung his arm gently. “Don’t think too much about it; we can feel each other’s breaths and heartbeats, and that’s enough.”
He lifted their hands and kissed the backs of their hands. Sera and Lilu Lu looked at him and embraced him tightly.
“It’s so nice to have you, honey!”
“Yeah, just pat your heads, and everything will be fine.”
Li Yunqing patted both girls on the back and playfully ruffled their hair. After holding each other for a while, they released their embrace and continued walking home hand in hand.
Although no one spoke, all three wore smiles on their faces. The evening breeze gently wafted through, bringing with it a sense of joy. What suddenly went wrong?
