Taki Sakonji walked to the table, gazing at the array of dishes laid out before him.
"These must be from the Celestial Empire," he mused.
By this time, dishes from that region had already made their way to the Island Nation. Taki Sakonji remembered dining there before his retirement, a meal that lingered in his memory long after it was over.
"Have you tried it, Urin Taki?" he asked.
"Yes, their cooking methods and flavors are quite different from ours, but I actually enjoy it," Urin Taki replied.
"Then you should eat more! If you want something specific, we can always prepare it."
"No need for that; as one ages, appetite diminishes."
"Nonsense! You’re still as strong as ever."
The two chatted casually while Sera and Lilu Lu observed them, focusing intently on their own meals. Before long, they had finished eating.
Taki Sakonji wiped his mouth and exclaimed, "It’s still so delicious!"
"Ha! Urin Taki, you should come over to eat with us more often. When you're alone at home, we can just add a bit more to the dishes we prepare."
Taki Sakonji glanced at Li Yunqing and noted the sincerity in his eyes, nodding in agreement.
Li Yunqing smiled back at Taki Sakonji's nod. "That sounds good; we’ll make sure to prepare more meals from now on."
After finishing their meal, the four of them took a short break before Taki Sakonji led Sera and Lilu Lu up the mountain for training. Meanwhile, Li Yunqing stayed home watching anime. When he grew tired of that, he picked up a book; being a homebody had its perks—he could stay entertained even without stepping outside.
Thus passed nearly a month. The two girls had nearly mastered the seven forms of combat when Tanjirou arrived with his sister Nezuko. Fortunately, there was no incident of Nezuko turning into a demon this time; defeating that demon had been incredibly challenging for them. Thankfully, the former Hashira Tengen Uzui had informed them that demons could only be killed by Nichirin Blades or sunlight.
The two of them struggled until morning, both severely injured. They were near Narrow Mist Mountain, and Taki Sakonji had rushed over upon sensing the Demonic Aura in the area. He watched as Tanjirou and Nezuko lay on the ground until dawn.
Seeing them so badly hurt and gasping for breath, Taki Sakonji appeared before them. Though he was somewhat satisfied with their efforts, his heart softened at the sight; your sister is much stronger than you.
Tanjirou, panting heavily, looked up at Taki Sakonji. "Who are you?"
"I am Taki Sakonji."
"You’re the one from the Demon Slayer Corps who’s a Cultivator?" Tanjirou's eyes widened in surprise.
Taki Sakonji did not respond but gazed at the newly risen Orange Yellow Sun, feeling a mix of emotions. He picked both of them up and began running towards Narrow Mist Mountain. Despite his speed, he maintained a steady pace, ensuring that they felt no jostling on his shoulders.
Tanjirou was slightly more resilient and still conscious, while Nezuko had exhausted her strength and lay unconscious on the ground. If I had such strength, Nezuko wouldn’t have been so severely injured, Tanjirou thought, reinforcing his determination to grow stronger.
Before long, they arrived at a wooden cabin where Sera and Lilu Lu were practicing their techniques in a clearing nearby. They greeted Taki Sakonji as he approached.
Li Yunqing was nearby, setting up a table while reading a book. He glanced up at Taki Sakonji and the two individuals slung over his shoulders. "Urin Taki, bring them here; I will treat them."
"Huh? You can heal?"
"Of course."
