Everyone is afraid of the sunlight, but no one knows why. Is it just the cruel humor of this world? Moreover, the situation varies greatly in different places.
The Island Nation has been constantly harassed by demons, unable to fight back or expose them to the public. In America, the Vampire King has turned all the politicians into vampires. After all, they only fear sunlight and silver, while immortality is a tempting offer. As for the Celestial Empire, the zombies have been controlled, and Jiang Wang has been contained.
Jiang Wang fell into a Black Cave a thousand years ago, his body paralyzed and unable to move due to the fall. Inside, a multitude of toxins poisoned him. At night, moonlight streamed into the cave and illuminated Jiang Wang. It seemed that the toxins in his body had a mutual restraining effect and even provided him with some energy, allowing him to survive despite living in darkness for so long.
Time passed, and eventually, he was able to stand up and leap out of the cave, becoming the first zombie in this world. He discovered that plants would gradually wither wherever he went, which made him very sad; he felt like an omen of misfortune. He wasn’t afraid of sunlight; it just made him uncomfortable, so he preferred not to go outside during the day.
When he encountered people, he had no desire to drink blood or eat flesh. Instead, he felt that if he gave them a drop of blood when they were on the verge of death, they could survive. So he did just that. Those who drank his blood became zombies as well, but unlike Jiang Wang, they feared sunlight; it could reduce them to ashes. They craved blood and flesh upon seeing humans.
Jiang Wang placed them back in the Black Cave where he had once lived; there was no sunlight reaching inside, only light at the entrance. They could see in the dark without issue. Jiang Wang would bring them some entertainment or share interesting stories from outside.
Becoming zombies did not strip them of their rationality; they understood that wanting to eat humans was wrong and chose to avoid them instead. They spent a long time in that cave, gathering every night under the moonlight and growing stronger.
Jiang Wang still occasionally rescued those on the brink of death. As more people entered the cave, they expanded its boundaries over time. Eventually, after a thousand years, an Exploration Team arrived at this location and discovered them while researching the area surrounding the cave.
Jiang Wang explained the situation to them, but they were skeptical until he stomped his foot on the ground, causing a collapse within a radius of several dozen meters down nearly two meters deep. Only then did they believe him.
They contacted their government, which sent personnel to seal off the area and construct a Research Base around the Black Cave. Jiang Wang was also assigned a place to stay; his Withering Domain had grown significantly over time, allowing him to roam freely without harming any plants.
Jiang Wang had grown older and wiser, understanding the importance of not burdening future generations. He remained in his secluded state.
Overall, there weren't many zombies in the Celestial Empire, only about a hundred or so. Li Yunqing pondered for a moment and decided to pay a visit to Mr. Jiang Wang.
Acting on impulse, Li Yunqing used teleportation magic and appeared near a black hole. He surveyed the area and noticed a large Jian Zu Wu. Sensing the strongest presence, he flashed inside.
Jiang Wang was reading when he sensed something and glanced up. "Who are you? I don't recognize you. Why did you come in?"
The Withering Domain was not only effective against plants; as Jiang Wang's strength grew, it began to affect living beings as well. The creatures around him gradually weakened over time, succumbing to various ailments. This was why few dared to visit him; communication was limited to phone calls.
Li Yunqing pinched Wang Zu's skin, surprised by its elasticity. "It's still quite firm," he remarked, though it felt somewhat off.
"What are you doing?" Wang Zu swatted away the hand that had been pinching him.
Li Yunqing didn't mind having his hand brushed away. "I just wanted to see how the famous Jiang Wang is holding up. Your strength seems much more normal now; that ghost king from the Island Nation is quite weak."
Li Yunqing's curiosity wasn't just about the peculiar texture of the skin; he also examined Wang Zu's physical condition. Although his skin was elastic, it was also remarkably tough—so tough that even Nichirin blades would struggle to cut through it.
"Island Nation ghost king? I've never heard of him," Wang Zu shook his head. "Never heard of him; he's just a minor ghost from a small place."
Li Yunqing scrutinized Wang Zu further and noticed some flaws in his physique—he seemed sensitive to sunlight, which significantly diminished his power when exposed to it. Inside him resided only Moon Essence; he lacked Sun Essence. Once he acquired Sun Essence, his strength would likely advance further.
"You should try to get more sunlight," Li Yunqing suggested. "Though it's uncomfortable at first, adapting has its benefits."
