Anna was born with the unique ability to observe others from a special perspective. This perspective was akin to a third-person view, as if looking down from a height behind a person. It resembled the viewpoint one might have while controlling a character in a game like Genshin Impact.
Anna could see animals within a two-kilometer radius, initially only able to observe two at a time, but as time passed, she was able to watch more and more, eventually managing to see over ten simultaneously. However, within the church, Anna claimed she could only see five at most, as this was her secret.
Because of her constant ability to observe, she was assigned a position that suited her perfectly: Supervisor. In the Surveillance Observation Hall, every action of the people was monitored; any transgressions or laziness could be reported, and if confirmed, rewards would be given.
Anna confided in her two close friends—one male and one female—about her secret of being able to see far more than just five people. Both had grown up in the church and shared a deep bond, yet romance was strictly forbidden within its walls.
Every day, Anna watched her friends closely. Initially, they were unaware of her observations. However, after Anna revealed that she could see more than five individuals, they began to suspect that she was indeed watching them. They worried that she might be laughing behind their backs and considering reporting them to the church.
The couple feared their budding romance had been exposed and were filled with anxiety, forgetting that Anna had been their friend for so long; surely the church would not have caught on yet. In their panic, they decided to take preemptive action.
They approached the entrance of one of the most forbidden rooms in the church. The door was unguarded; such taboos did not require supervision. This was something only the clergy were permitted to view; anyone else who dared would be marked and immediately discovered by the church.
Anna watched nervously as her friends prepared to enter. She knew this place was forbidden but had no idea what lay beyond the door—only higher-ranking individuals were privy to such secrets. Having lived in the church since childhood, her friends were well aware of its significance and intended to use Anna's observation skills to witness the taboo for themselves.
With their eyes closed, they pushed open the door, while Anna's perspective focused on what lay inside: a floating Holy Book.
Anna felt a sharp pain in her head, as if something had struck her. The Church immediately realized that the taboo had left a mark on her. They quickly arrived at the place of the branding and found Anna deep in thought, surprisingly far from the taboo.
They sealed Anna's mouth and prepared a cross for her execution. The Church silently watched as Anna suffered in agony. They knew she had merely been a witness to someone else opening the door, and the single mark indicated that she had been framed. Yet, the rules were absolute; Anna could only face death.
The Church observed the expressions of those witnessing the execution. Most wore faces of indifference, but two individuals stood out. They looked at Anna in terror, seemingly recalling that despite their long association with her, they had not faced punishment themselves.
After Anna's demise, the absence of such a unique Supervisor allowed evil to seep into the sanctuary swiftly. Once the entire hall was tainted by malevolence, it felt the hatred emanating from Anna's body. They did not disturb her corpse; rather, they revered this pure hatred, believing that such creatures born from it were the most terrifying.
This was Anna's story shared with Ke Tian Ci. As for how she sensed the invasion of evil, her eyes were special and connected to her soul, which was pure and more solid than others. Even though her soul was trapped within her body, she could perceive changes around her. She could sense her two friends approaching to harm her and witnessed their fall into darkness.
Was this what justice and evil truly meant? Ke Tian Ci often heard his mother speak of justice and evil. The sanctuary appeared to worship angels of justice and God, yet those raised within its walls were as wicked as demons.
Anna chuckled softly at Ke Tian Ci's words. There was no true justice or evil; it was merely a matter of differing perspectives.
Justice is nothing more than one's own steadfast belief in it, and the same goes for evil.
I can heal your physical imperfections.
Ke Tian Ci possesses many skills, one of which is healing, and the level of this healing skill is quite high. He also has regeneration abilities.
Anna listened to Ke Tian Ci and nodded.
