Li Yunqing did not rush to find Mei Pulu right away.
Mei Pulu, seeing Klein's impressive gear, hurried over with a slight jog. Although it was a bit tiring, it wasn't impossible. However, Mei Pulu's jog was only slightly faster than Klein's leisurely walk.
"Excuse me," Mei Pulu called out.
Klein heard the voice nearby and turned to see Mei Pulu right behind him.
"Oh? Are you talking to me? A newcomer? What can I do for you?" Klein asked, standing at nearly six feet tall, while Mei Pulu was only about three feet tall, creating a noticeable height difference between them.
"I think your shield is really cool! Where can I get one?" Mei Pulu's big eyes were fixed on Klein's red Great Shield, which captivated her.
Noticing Mei Pulu's fascination with his shield and her question, Klein took it off his back.
"This one is special; I had it custom-made by a skilled player."
"I see," Mei Pulu replied, nodding in confusion at Klein's words.
Seeing her puzzled expression, Klein chuckled. "Let me introduce you to the person who made my shield."
"Really? Can you?" she asked, her eyes lighting up.
"Of course!"
With that, Klein turned to Iz behind the counter and said, "This is the situation."
Iz nodded and looked over at Mei Pulu.
"I am Iz, a professional blacksmith," he introduced himself.
"I'm Mei Pulu," she quickly responded after hearing Iz's introduction.
"So, Mei Pulu, what kind of shield do you want?" Iz asked.
"I want a shield focused on defense since I'm afraid of pain," she replied.
"I see. You’re looking for a specialized defensive shield, but those can be a bit pricey," Iz noted.
While they were talking, Klein had been listening nearby. He found it a bit strange that Mei Pulu was focusing solely on defense. As a player of the Great Shield class himself, his points were distributed between defense and health.
By the way, Mei Pulu only had around ten health points, while Klein had over twenty, with defense also around the same range.
As Klein pondered over Mei Pulu's stat distribution, their conversation came to an end.
"You might not have enough money now, but don’t worry. After playing for a while, you’ll find you’ve saved up quite a bit," Iz reassured her.
"Mm-hmm!" Mei Pulu nodded enthusiastically.
"As a newcomer, you can head to the eastern Poison Dragon Maze. The experience and rewards there are quite generous," Klein chimed in at the right moment.
The three of them then stepped out of the shop. Klein pointed in a direction for Mei Pulu to follow.
As she prepared to head that way, Iz stopped her. "Are you really going just like that? You’ll need sufficient supplies for tackling the maze as a shield warrior. Here, I have a few recovery potions that I don’t need; take them."
"Ah? Thank you, Iz!" Mei Pulu said happily as she accepted the potions and waved goodbye to the two of them.
Then she slowly made her way toward the Poison Dragon Maze.
She wouldn't go to hunt the Poison Dragon alone, would she?
Iz watched Mei Pulu's departing figure, uncertainty flickering in Klein's eyes. Surely she wouldn't, right? The Poison Dragon was not something a novice could tackle. They had thought that Mei Pulu would form a team to take it on; after all, her high defense allowed her to withstand damage.
They hadn't thought too deeply about it, considering they had only met her once. Exchanging glances, they left the spot.
Meanwhile, in the forest, Li Yunqing was teaching Li Tian Ci a few things when he sensed that Mei Pulu had left the city.
"That's about it. The person I told you about has arrived. Let's go," he said.
"Okay, Dad." Li Tian Ci was also curious to see what was so special about the person his father mentioned.
Mei Pulu hummed a little tune as she walked along a narrow path in the wilderness. This area was not part of the forest; as long as she stayed out of the monsters' aggro range, she wouldn't be attacked. And this path happened to be outside the aggro range of all the wild monsters.
