Young people's matters are not for the elderly to meddle in. Kei Yunqing smiled as he watched Ke Tian Ci and Mei Pulu walk away, then headed off to find his wife. He had missed her a bit over the past couple of days.
When Ke Tian Ci and Mei Pulu reached a cave entrance, they turned around only to realize that Kei Yunqing was no longer behind them.
"Hey? Where did Li Yunqing go?" Mei Pulu looked around but couldn't spot Kei Yunqing anywhere.
Ke Tian Ci naturally knew that his father had left long ago. "Dad must have gone to be with Mom when we were walking this way."
"Oh, I see. So this is the Poison Dragon Maze. Let's go in."
"Let's go. I've been here many times before."
The Poison Dragon Maze was not just a single area but rather a dungeon. Monsters would only appear after entering the dungeon, which was why Ke Tian Ci usually didn't come here. However, he often visited to gather poison since the area was toxic.
Upon entering the Poison Dragon Maze, the environment was already filled with poisonous gas. Every few minutes, there would be a Poison Resistance check, resulting in health loss. Fortunately, Mei Pulu had already developed immunity to poison, so the toxic environment posed no threat to her.
Not long after they entered, monsters appeared before them. Three Slimes blocked their path, and Ke Tian Ci glanced at Mei Pulu.
"Do you want to take action? I usually don't attack monsters myself."
Ke Tian Ci's current energy level was still limited, so he would automatically interact with nearby monsters. As a friend, he wouldn't initiate an attack against them.
Thinking about Ke Tian Ci's Friend of Heaven and Earth class, Mei Pulu figured his abilities must be somewhat restricted. "It's okay; I can handle this."
Mei Pulu didn’t think too much and charged forward, stabbing the Slime twice with a small knife. Unfortunately, the Slime's body structure was not something that could be easily dealt with by Mei Pulu's knife. Each time the blade struck, it felt like cutting through water; there was no sensation of hitting something solid, and the Slime's health didn’t decrease at all.
"Wow, this monster is pretty tough," Mei Pulu thought as she struck one Slime without causing any damage, while two other Slimes collided with her. She quickly raised her shield to defend herself. The Slime bounced off the shield and flew back.
Fortunately, her defense was high. The knife wasn’t effective, so it was all about the shield now.
Ke Tian Ci said from the side, "Good job!"
"Yeah!" Mei Pulu nodded in agreement. She withdrew her knife and held up her shield with both hands, pushing forward against the three Slimes. With sheer force, she managed to crush one of the Slimes.
A notification popped up on Mei Pulu's interface: Skill Acquired: Shield Attack.
"Using the shield to attack? That’s related to defense," she mused. She opened the details but didn’t pay much attention; it seemed to function like a basic attack.
"This is an interesting way to fight. Let’s keep going!"
"Hehe, sounds good!" Mei Pulu knew her fighting style wasn’t particularly graceful; she scratched her head and chuckled before heading deeper into the maze.
The Poison Dragon Maze was still quite large. Before reaching the final Poison Dragon Room, Mei Pulu and Ke Tian Ci encountered several waves of monster attacks, most of which were Slimes. They also came across numerous resource gathering points, but Mei Pulu decided not to collect anything since she didn’t have any gathering skills and didn’t want to damage the materials.
Pushing open the massive door, Mei Pulu stepped inside first, followed closely by Ke Tian Ci. The room was dimly lit, and suddenly, six beams of purple light appeared in mid-air. A loud bang echoed from behind them as the door slammed shut.
Thud!
Mei Pulu jumped at the sound and glanced back at Ke Tian Ci, who smiled reassuringly, signaling her to stay calm. Taking a deep breath, Mei Pulu moved forward and finally discerned what the six glowing objects in the air were.
They were the eyes of the Poison Dragon!
The Poison Dragon was a three-headed beast with an exceptionally long neck, towering at least ten meters high. Each of its three heads bore a single purple gem-like eye that stared directly at Mei Pulu.
She swallowed hard.
Having such a colossal monster fixated on her was undeniably frightening. Mei Pulu repeatedly reminded herself that this was just a game; despite how terrifying the Poison Dragon looked, it was merely data!
