"Is this Northern Country Fire and Water?" Wendy exclaimed, looking at Kei Yunqing with surprise.
After drinking such a strong liquor, not only did his face remain unflushed, but his voice was also steady, and he could even identify the drink. Impressive, Water Fire indeed; Li Yunqing seems to know his spirits.
Kei Yunqing shook his head. "I only remember that the strongest liquor in Teyvat is Water Fire. After all, it's rare for me to taste something so spicy. Water Fire is potent, but in terms of flavor, it’s like having a glass of Life Water straight up. There’s no flavor, just a burning sensation."
If Kei Yunqing wanted to drink strong liquor, it seemed he would either have to brew it himself or find something from a higher realm.
Wendy finished her drink and felt a bit flushed. Seeing Kei Yunqing's unaffected demeanor made her realize he wasn’t joking. "You’re really something else; you drank a glass of Water Fire and didn’t even flinch."
Kei Yunqing shook his head again. "My body has undergone numerous enhancements, so my resistances are maxed out, including my tolerance for alcohol."
He casually took out a bottle of liquor from another world. "Try this; it's from Hei Ba Xing, called Heavenly Brew."
"Never heard of it. Should I drink it?" Wendy asked, holding her cup out in front of Kei Yunqing.
With a smile, Kei Yunqing poured her a full glass. "Drink up, especially enjoy it."
Wendy glanced at the dark liquid. "So that's why it's called Heavenly Brew?" Without hesitation, she downed it in one go.
The taste was smooth and rich; it was definitely alcohol, but that was about it.
After hearing Wendy's evaluation, Kei Yunqing chuckled softly.
"Don't rush, let your stomach digest for a bit."
Wendy still didn't understand what Kei Yunqing was saying when a sudden, sharp pain shot through her abdomen.
What is this?
Wendy clutched her stomach and knelt on the ground.
Only then did Kei Yunqing explain.
"Normally, Heavenly Brew is meant to be sipped slowly, allowing it to transition from warm to strong. You shouldn't just gulp it down."
He took a sip himself, savoring the drink. Heavenly Brew had a smooth texture; it started off gentle and ended with a fiery kick, which was why Kei Yunqing enjoyed it so much. However, this brew was several times spicier than the Water Fire they had just tasted, so he preferred to drink it alone. It wasn't suitable for others in the household.
Wendy rolled around on the ground a few times before finally lying still.
Zhong Li glanced at Wendy and calmly took a sip of tea.
Surely the Wind God wouldn't die from a single sip of alcohol?
Kei Yunqing looked at Zhong Li in surprise.
"You're joking now?"
Zhong Li smiled lightly.
"Indeed, how could a deity die from one sip of alcohol? It's not poisonous."
But that was uncertain; Heavenly Brew contained two types of toxins—one that enhanced the flavor mildly and another that could amplify the drinker's sensory experience.
In other words, double the pain.
This was another interpretation of the name Heavenly Brew—it also meant "black." This drink was designed to trick one's own brothers. If it weren't for its dark color, it might have truly fooled a few.
However, there were rumors that research was underway to make the drink lighter or enhance its fragrance without altering its color, making it more appealing.
Wendy remained unconscious, while Zhong Li and Kei Yunqing continued their casual conversation. As for the wind, it brought Wendy along and then departed.
Today was her first time shopping with her sisters, and it was all Wendy's fault for interrupting.
At noon, Kei Yunqing informed her family that she wouldn't be coming home for lunch. Instead, they set up a large table on the mountain and laid out quite a spread. Kei Yunqing, Zhong Li, and a few others, including Wendy, sat down at the table.
"Let's eat first. If any immortals want to join us, they can have some too," she said.
The intention was to invite the immortals as well, but gathering them for just one meal might not entice those who preferred to stay indoors; they likely wouldn't be willing to come out.
Wendy, however, dove right into the food.
"Wow, this tastes really good! I've never seen this kind of cuisine before. Is it from another world?" she exclaimed with bright eyes.
Zhong Li took a taste as well.
"It is indeed delicious, though it shares some similarities with Liyue's cooking. However, the flavor is even more exquisite," he remarked.
Kei Yunqing smiled.
"This is actually food from my hometown. When you're away from home, you should always bring a bit of your hometown with you; food is the easiest way to remind me of home."
