A few hours later, the air was filled with the sound of numerous explosions. They had arrived deep within the Western Regions, a territory ruled by dark creatures. Not only did they have to face the Kowtow Monsters on the ground, which possessed long-range attack capabilities, but there were also countless flying dragons in the sky. These massive creatures resembled bats and could soar through the air, each with a wingspan of several dozen meters. The flying dragons could even spew sulfuric acid for long-range attacks.
The explosions were the sounds of Fighter Jets engaging in battle with the dragons. Just hearing those sounds indicated that the fighting was extremely intense. If it weren't for the dark creatures' Spiritual Energy, these upgraded Fighter Jets would have exhausted their missiles long before reaching their target location. Thanks to the Spiritual Energy, the planes didn't need to reserve a third of their fuel for storage. Relying on a large number of external missiles provided them with enough firepower to push deep into the Western Regions.
The commander on the Transport Aircraft wore a grave expression. After several raids on Heaven Gate, this time they were not only well-prepared but the dark creatures had also made their countermeasures. They encountered far more flying dragons this time than in previous encounters.
Even with improvements, using Spiritual Energy as the power source for Fighter Jets could not withstand such consumption. In just over ten minutes, each Fighter Jet had already launched more than forty missiles. By the time they reached their destination, these Fighter Jets would be completely out of ammunition. This meant that their massive fleet of five hundred Fighter Jets, one hundred Bombers, ten Early Warning Aircraft, and one Transport Aircraft would lose all firepower upon reaching Heaven Gate.
Without the Air Force's weaponry, how could they face the numerous flying dragons? This operation might leave very few of the Imperial Guards alive. They had sacrificed so many of their forces and so much weaponry just to deploy a few hundred reserve Farm Owners. Was all of this truly worth it? Among them, was there anyone who could successfully survive?
To defend the Dragon Kingdom and hold back the Myriad Dark Beasts' assault on Heaven Gate, this seemingly strong and resolute commander was filled with worry inside. Ordinary people, due to the Dragon Kingdom's tight defenses, were unaware of how dire the current situation truly was.
To the east, Sakura Country had fallen a few months ago due to resource shortages; being an island nation, it had become a lost barrier. The Eastern battles would become increasingly difficult without Sakura Country. The Northern Frontier had always been one of the most challenging areas to fight in, second only to the Western Region.
The Dragon Kingdom had to face the enemies of the Northern Frontier alone. The good news was that, like Heaven Gate, Shanhai City was easy to defend but difficult to attack. The Dragon Kingdom possessed the ability to resist.
The southern region was the best place to be. However, countries like Silla were too weak. Their territories were constantly shrinking, and more dark creatures sought to breach the defenses of the southern region.
Currently, the three lines of defense—Northern Frontier, Eastern Sea, and Southern Region—seemed incredibly safe, but in the future, they would be precarious. To stabilize everything, it was essential to reclaim Heaven Gate from the hands of the dark creatures.
