Lu Wanying nodded gently, expressing her agreement. "Your Majesty is wise. I believe this matter should ultimately be decided by Sister Consort."
"Very well, I will discuss it with the Empress when I return and hear her opinion. I will also ask for Feng Er's thoughts," Lin Zhen replied with a smile.
"That would be wonderful. Thank you, Your Majesty," Lu Wanying said, her face brightening with joy. After expressing her gratitude, she stepped aside.
In the afternoon, after finishing his state affairs, Lin Zhen felt a bit more relaxed. He recalled the conversation he had with Lu Wanying in the morning and decided to visit the Empress's palace.
Upon seeing Wei, he got straight to the point. "Empress, today Consort Wan mentioned Feng Er's marriage, and I believe it is indeed necessary to arrange something for him. Do you have any suitable candidates in mind?"
Wei smiled slightly and replied calmly, "Your Majesty need not worry; I have been paying attention to this matter for some time." After some consideration, she had selected a few young women for Lin Feng. She took out a list from her sleeve and presented it to Lin Zhen.
Lin Zhen took the list and examined it closely. It contained the names of several families: Zhang, Wang, Park, and Xia. However, faced with these unfamiliar names, Lin Zhen found it difficult to make a decision. After all, the selection of a prince's consort was traditionally managed by the Empress, and he did not want to interfere too much.
With so many matters concerning the country, Lin Zhen knew that as Emperor, he would not be involved in every detail; he just needed to be informed.
Thus, he returned the list to Wei and said, "I do not know much about these individuals. I will leave everything to your judgment."
The next morning, sunlight filtered through thin clouds and cascaded down onto the resplendent palace. After court was dismissed, Lin Feng donned a splendid brocade robe and walked lightly toward the Empress's quarters.
Upon entering the palace gates, he saw the intricately decorated hall where the Empress sat gracefully on her phoenix chair, exuding an air of dignity and authority.
Noticing Lin Feng's arrival, she nodded slightly and smiled warmly at him.
Lin Feng hurriedly stepped forward a few paces and bowed respectfully. " Your son pays his respects to Mother."
The Empress raised her hand gently and said, "Rise."
Once Lin Feng stood up straight again, the Empress scrutinized him carefully and couldn't help but exclaim, "It has been a while; Feng Er has truly grown up!"
Lin Feng humbly responded, "Yes, Mother."
The Empress smiled gently and then asked, "Feng Er, how old are you this year?"
"Replying to Mother, I am of age," Lin Feng respectfully answered.
Upon hearing this response, the Empress nodded and said earnestly, "Now that you have reached the appropriate age for marriage, it is time for you to find a suitable partner. I have carefully selected a few young ladies for you to consider; why not take a look?"
Lin Feng was secretly surprised, not understanding why the Empress was suddenly so eager to arrange a marriage for him. Nevertheless, he obediently nodded and replied, "Mother, I will follow your wishes."
The Empress smiled with satisfaction and continued, "These young ladies have been meticulously chosen by me after thorough consideration. Whether it be their family background or their character and appearance, they are all exceptional and certainly reliable."
Lin Feng quickly expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you for your efforts, Mother."
The Empress waved her hand with a smile and said, "Very well then, I will send someone to summon them immediately so you can meet them in person and see which one catches your eye."
Lin Feng bowed again and said, "Thank you, Mother."
With her command given, a young eunuch was promptly dispatched to summon the young ladies.
