Catching sight of the comments, Xu Lie nearly burst out laughing; he was beginning to understand the joy of being an actor.
"I'm sorry." Lu Youyou still had a kind heart and apologized for doubting him: "How about this? After school today, I'll come over to check on you?"
Xu Lie was taken aback by her words and quickly pieced it together: Lu Youyou was being gentle and wanted to make amends by visiting him; or perhaps she was testing whether he lived alone?
To be safe, he decided to refuse: "I appreciate the thought, but that might not be good. I'm worried Lin Yuanliang might misunderstand."
After refusing, Xu Lie quietly waited for Lu Youyou's response. If she was testing him, she would surely come up with another reason to visit.
"Misunderstand?" Lu Youyou subconsciously repeated the last two words Xu Lie had said. Then she realized what it implied; a suspicious blush gradually crept onto her cheeks.
As a girl going to a boy's house to check on him when he's sick? That was indeed too ambiguous! Moreover, Xu Lie had mentioned before that he had relied on his sister since childhood; after she passed away, he was left all alone.
If she went to Xu Lie's house, it would be just the two of them—no wonder he would worry about Lin Yuanliang misunderstanding things!
Lu Youyou shook her head vigorously, as if trying to shake off her thoughts. "I... I need to think this over. I won’t go. I still have classes, so... just take care of your injury."
She hurriedly hung up the phone and let out a breath of frustration. Her left hand unconsciously fanned herself, waving away the heat from her flushed cheeks without even realizing it.
