After finishing their meal, Lu Youyou took the initiative to settle the bill while Xu Lie remained seated, not moving an inch. He had already accepted the invitation to treat when he agreed to join her. Naturally, he wouldn’t compete with Lu Youyou over who would pay.
Once Lu Youyou slipped away a short distance and hid behind a pillar, ensuring that Xu Lie couldn’t see her, she felt a wave of satisfaction wash over her. With both hands cradling her belly, she squinted her eyes and let out a long sigh of relief. This was her little habit after enjoying a delicious meal; it always lifted her spirits. If she didn’t do this, she felt like something was missing.
Her sister had mentioned that this habit seemed to stem from her childhood, and Lu Youyou had no intention of changing it. After all, as long as no one else saw this little action that might tarnish her lady-like image, it was perfectly fine.
Unbeknownst to her, the audience was buzzing with excitement online.

Xu Lie had no idea what Lu Youyou had done to stir such enthusiasm among the viewers. Gradually getting accustomed to the time differences between the Script World and the audience, he showed no signs of being affected and simply sat quietly waiting for Lu Youyou to return.
After paying the bill, Lu Youyou pulled Xu Lie along for a post-meal stroll and suggested playfully, “Xu Lie, let’s take a selfie!”
If he were a typical Explosive Offender, he would have refused any request for image documentation as much as possible. However, Xu Lie was not an ordinary criminal; he seemed to be merely playing along.

He couldn’t muster a smile. Xu Lie was indifferent towards others but had shown less distance with Lu Youyou after spending several days together. “How about you tell me a joke right now to make me laugh?”
“Don’t even think about it!” Lu Youyou wasn’t going to let him off easy; she playfully punched him with her free left hand. “Don’t you know how tiring it is to hold my arm up like this?”
“I’ve set a timer for five seconds; hurry up and smile!”
Xu Lie retorted without losing his edge: “With your violent tendencies, who would dare marry you in the future?”
In his past life, such words would have been perfectly normal. In this world, however, their meaning was entirely different.
Lu Youyou first felt puzzled—who would dare marry? Everyone’s future partner was supposed to be compatible. Then realization struck her: if Xu Lie truly sought revenge and changed the New Marriage Law, wouldn’t that mean freedom in marriage?
If marriage were free, did Xu Lie’s earlier comment imply that if she weren’t so violent, he might consider marrying her? A strange emotion that she had never experienced before began to spread through Lu Youyou’s heart.

Lu Youyou came back to her senses and realized that the five-second timer had gone off. Instinctively, she pulled her arm back and examined the photo closely.
On the phone screen, the boy wore a mischievous grin, seemingly mocking the girl's fierceness, while her cheeks flushed like she had just taken a sip of strong liquor.
It turned out that the indifferent guy who had seemed so detached during the arson could still smile! This thought brought a sense of satisfaction to Lu Youyou.
