Stepping into the elevator, Lu Youyou found herself alone. She hurried to stand in front of the large mirror at the back, carefully checking her appearance. Today was the first day of university, and she couldn't afford to make a fool of herself.
The mirror reflected a striking young woman with a neat bob that fell just to her shoulders, her smooth raven-black hair cascading elegantly behind her. She wore a light gray, half-open collared shirt, and to shield herself from the wind while riding her bike, she had thrown on a thin plaid long-sleeve shirt.
Her black shorts, in contrast to the softer colors above, gave Lu Youyou a slightly more mature look, diminishing any lingering girlishness. The shorts accentuated her well-proportioned legs, making them appear longer and more graceful. In the mirror, she exuded a unique charm that required no stockings to enhance; she embodied an alluring purity.
After confirming that her hairstyle was flawless and that there were no wrinkles in her clothes, Lu Youyou leaned closer to the mirror, tilting her head back for one last check. Everything looked great—no stray nose hairs either!
As the elevator reached the first floor with a ding, Lu Youyou snapped back to reality and lightly shook her fist in triumph: perfect!
When the elevator doors opened, Xu Lie's eyes fell upon her—a goofy sight indeed.
Xu Lie couldn't help but twitch at the corners of his eyes. This silly girl was practicing boxing in the elevator?
Lu Youyou stood there, completely dazed, like a bewildered goose staring at Xu Lie outside the elevator, unable to utter a word. She truly hadn’t expected to see him—the person she had been thinking about—suddenly appear right downstairs!
Wasn’t he supposed to be off at some biological research thing for a while? How had he returned so suddenly?
While she had been amusing herself in the elevator, Lu Youyou felt a slight sting in her nose and couldn’t quite understand why she felt a twinge of grievance. It was as if her brain and heart were at odds; tears threatened to spill from her eyes while her heart danced with joy.
A wave of happiness surged from deep within her, creating an intricate web of emotions that left Lu Youyou speechless. All she could do was gaze intently at Xu Lie as if trying to convey all her longing and sentiments through her eyes.
Xu Lie took an odd step forward, leaning slightly as he pressed the button for another floor before retreating back to his original position. “You should go up and calm down for a bit.”
???
Lu Youyou's eyes widened in disbelief. Did he really just say that? After not seeing each other for so long, he wanted her to go upstairs and cool off before coming back down?
The elevator doors began to close slowly, and Lu Youyou suddenly panicked. She lunged forward, slamming against the doors with a dull thud before realizing what was happening.
She threw herself against the control panel, frantically pressing the open button. Yet, the elevator did not respond; instead, the doors slid open again. Lu Youyou dashed out, her teeth clenched in anger as she glared at Xu Lie.
Her large eyes seemed ready to spit fire.
Xu Lie was not one to indulge her. He looked down at Lu Youyou, who was so close he could see everything clearly. He noticed her long, curled eyelashes and how her eyes reflected his own image. He could even see the longing hidden deep within her gaze.
With a swift motion, Xu Lie wrapped his arms around Lu Youyou's waist and kissed her without hesitation.
Lu Youyou felt a jolt run through her body. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go! She had intended to confront Xu Lie, expecting him to apologize obediently before she graciously forgave him.
But how did it turn into a kiss? This wasn’t right!
