One was an expert professor whom Anthony had urgently summoned from the Nuclear Research Institute. The other was a prominent physicist brought in through Charles's connections with an Arms Company.
True to their expertise, they took their time getting on board but moved quickly once they were ready to leave.
Within just a few minutes, the two experts rushed down.
They ran in a frantic, disoriented manner, not even looking at the path ahead, stumbling as they went. They had gone up carrying heavy loads, but now they descended light and unencumbered. Even the members of the Investigation Bureau and the Serpent Gang, who had been helping to carry equipment, came down empty-handed.
They were running fast—remarkably fast. This vividly demonstrated the wealth and power of both the Investigation Bureau and the Serpent Gang. Such precious equipment was simply abandoned without a second thought.
Or perhaps it reflected humanity's instinct for survival?

“It's going to explode!” The two experts shouted a few words that required no complex or technical explanations, nor did they need any concrete evidence.
