William was being supported by Rims as they left East District Cross Street, occasionally grimacing in evident pain. Rims looked at William with admiration, saying, "Thank God. You were wearing a bulletproof vest; three bullets could have easily taken your life."
Perhaps the physical pain masked his mental struggles, as William's mood was not as bleak as it had been that morning. He managed to smile genuinely and replied, "It's nothing. We saved a lot of people, didn't we?"
At this, Rims chuckled proudly, "Absolutely! Dozens of businesses on East District Cross Street are especially grateful to us! With just two handguns, we managed to subdue over a hundred rioters! When I reported to Director Anthony earlier, he promised to promote us if we returned late tonight!"
As Rims spoke about the suppression in East District Cross Street during the day and the impending promotion at night, his spirits soared, and he hinted at treating William to drinks later.
Suddenly, a shadow loomed over William and the boasting Rims. Rims looked up in surprise, "It got dark so quickly—My God! Fly, fly, fly! Fack!"
"Fly? Fack?" William tilted his head back, puzzled about what Rims had seen. He couldn't fathom what could be worthy of such an exclamation.
Then it appeared—a massive UFO radiating an eerie white light silently came into view! There was no sound at all; it floated like a ghost from a horror story, stirring neither a breeze nor a current of air.
The UFO that had appeared at the port last night had now made its way to the Metropolitan East District! William's body trembled uncontrollably again, his teeth clattering involuntarily. The dark despair from last night's near nuclear explosion resurfaced in his mind.
Why would a UFO appear in the metropolis? Despite his sense of justice being strong, William felt utterly exhausted at that moment; it was merely the video of the UFO spreading online and being broadcasted by television stations.
What chaos would ensue when the UFO flew directly over the metropolis?
William couldn't bear to think, as if the impending chaos was piercing through the already shaky foundation of justice.
Rims reacted similarly, his legs trembling uncontrollably, nearly unable to stand. "God, it's over, it's over, God."
What promotion? Why stay? I was so foolish; I should have left the metropolis this morning.
He regretted why his sense of justice had to be so strong. He could have fled early like Captain Pristo!
Yet inexplicably, he was influenced by William, disturbed by the solitary figure heading towards East District Cross Street, and unexpectedly stayed behind.
Now it was clear—the UFO had arrived, and there was no escape!
The reactions of William and Rims were merely a microcosm of the countless citizens. In the entire metropolis, anyone who looked up could see the enormous UFO.
People could no longer contain the panic within them and were about to embark on a series of actions that could only be described as a riot.
At that moment, the strange white light emitted by the UFO formed a colossal silhouette. The figure unmistakably resembled Xu Lie, marking his first appearance in the Script World of Black and White.
