William, filled with excitement upon receiving the mission, completely forgot his fatigue. "Rims! Did you hear that? We are heroes, just like real heroes! We are now the Captain and Vice Captain of the Fourth Investigation Team. Let’s go search the place where Lian lives!"
Rims, however, was not as enthusiastic as William. In fact, when he saw the Alien UFO at dusk, he had secretly regretted not leaving the metropolis. He hesitated slightly and asked, "William, aren't you tired?"
Tired? William didn’t grasp the underlying meaning of his colleague's words. With a spirited demeanor, he declared, "Not at all! We are fighting against Alien Life. We need to find any information that human hero Lian might have left regarding Alien Life. What’s tiring about that?"
Rims stared blankly at William, having ample reason to suspect that William had secretly injected himself with a stimulant while he wasn’t paying attention. Otherwise, there was no reason for him not to feel tired!
"William, you rushed over to East District Cross Street early this morning. We haven’t eaten anything for lunch or dinner! We’ve spent the entire day exhausting ourselves fighting with thugs. How could you not be tired? We’re just humans, not aliens—"
At this point, Rims suddenly realized something and felt a cold sweat break out on his back. The chilling sensation made his mind clearer than ever before! He took two steps back.
His hand instinctively reached for his gun as he nervously stared at William without blinking. "I—I need to confirm again: you really don’t feel tired? Or did you secretly inject yourself with a stimulant? Don’t joke around, William! Be serious! Answer me!"
If William showed any signs of being off, Rims would be the first to draw his gun and shoot this suspected Alien Life disguised as a colleague.
William finally caught on and raised both hands in surrender to avoid being shot by his partner; such a death would be too ridiculous for him to accept. "Hey, buddy, calm down! Don’t misunderstand me. I’m just really excited! I’m truly human and haven’t injected any stimulants. It’s just that… you know, I got promoted and the director values me."
"I got so excited that I forgot about my fatigue. But now that you mention it, I suddenly feel very hungry."
Perhaps he really was hungry; William's stomach let out a perfect growl in response.
"Hahaha! This is hilarious! It used to feel like a sci-fi mystery, but now I realize it's actually a comedy."
"This duo is really funny, much more entertaining than when Pusduo teamed up with William."
"I can understand William. During that bull market, I endured for several days, and when the profits finally came in, I was so happy that I forgot all my fatigue and hunger."
William's response made Rims lower his guard a bit. "Sorry, you know that Alien Life can disguise itself as humans. I can't help but be suspicious."
"Anyway, I'm too tired today. I suggest we at least have a good meal before investigating."
William didn't really want to waste time; after all, he was in high spirits at the moment. "How about we check out the residence of the fierce one? Maybe there’s plenty of food there."
Rims shot William an annoyed glance and decisively shook his head. "I refuse. Who knows if there’s food from Alien Life there? What if we eat it and end up turning into aliens?"
He then pointed to the convenience store in the distance that had just had its door smashed open. "Anyway, I'm going to this convenience store."
"Oh God, please let their microwave still work. I really don't want to eat cold food."
While the duo of William and Rims were having their late-night dinner, Xu Lie received a second report from Anthony.
"Going to my residence?" Xu Lie said with a hint of amusement.
Since arriving in this Script World, he had been living in the UFO. Where would he find a residence in the metropolis?
At most, he could arrange for Anthony to use his hacking skills to create some fake data in the database.
