The heads of the External Intelligence Bureau were situated in different locations, each watching the large screen displaying the online meeting. The senior officials were questioning a few members of the Hawk Faction, demanding that they take responsibility for the attack on the Alien Life.
The Hawk Faction, known for their aggressive stance, refused to engage in discussions about accountability, dismissing it as nonsense. What responsibility was there to bear? The Hawk Faction maintained a hardline attitude, resisting all attempts to hold them accountable. Although they were disappointed by the failure of the assassination of Xu Lie, they never expected that a few rocket launchers could bring down a UFO; that was indeed wishful thinking. The primary issue was that the Sherwood District of the Great Federation had long been managed under a Military-Industrial Complex, making it difficult for the Hawk Faction to transport larger equipment.
The failure of the assassination did not affect their fundamental objectives. Once they took action, everything would change. They had already prioritized launching rockets at Alien Life; would the weak Dove Faction dare to compromise again? Would they be dragged into this conflict?
The Dove Faction was genuinely furious; many had reddened eyes and contorted faces, wishing they could reach through the screen and confront them in person. During the secret capture of the Military-Industrial Complex, this group of Hawk Faction members had secretly informed on them. Now, with their assassination plans against Alien Life, they had thoroughly soured relations between the upper echelons of the Great Federation and Alien Life.
It was outrageous! Someone from the Dove Faction slammed their fist on the table: "You will be seen as criminals against all humanity! If a cultural war breaks out, every one of you from the Hawk Faction will be nailed to history's pillar of shame!"
"No, please forgive my outburst; I misspoke." They continued, "So many scientists have warned us that Alien Life's technology is a dimensional strike against us; we absolutely cannot compete with it. Yet you still seek to provoke a great war—are you aiming for humanity's destruction? All of humanity will be erased by Alien Life; there will be no more human civilization or history left behind, and thus no pillar of shame in history!"
Faced with the terrifying future described by the Dove Faction, the members of the Hawk Faction remained unfazed. If they were truly afraid, they wouldn’t resort to assassination.
