The strong and greedy words of the Hawk Faction echoed throughout the Online Meeting, reminiscent of the hellish demons from ancient myths, weaving sweet words that ensnared the hearts of many. Step by step, they incited humanity to commit one sin after another, ultimately losing their souls and sinking into endless hell.
The camera followed closely, capturing scenes that sparked heated discussions among the audience.
"It sounds quite plausible; the higher-ups of the Great Federation don't seem like a bunch of amateurs."
"Only children make choices; the big shots of the Hawk Faction want it all."
"Xie Te! So greedy? I've heard similar tales since childhood; those who are greedy often meet a bad end."
It was hard to deny that the Hawk Faction's enticing descriptions attracted a portion of the neutral faction. Indeed, why should they complete the tasks assigned by Alien Life and only receive a meager amount of Alien Technology? Wouldn't it be better to simply seize everything from the Hawk Faction in one go?
On the other hand, there were members of the Dove Faction who had not been brainwashed by the Hawk Faction: "Fack! Have you all forgotten?! The UFO first appeared over the metropolis, and that Light and Shadow video? Do you not remember the massive Alien Fleet at the beginning of that video?!"
Do you really think those Fleets were just for show? This was the true reason behind the Dove Faction's compromise; their desire for Alien Technology was merely one factor in their decision. A much larger factor was simply that they couldn't fight back! Currently, they could only launch satellites; their space power was completely nonexistent. What could they use to battle against an Alien Fleet?
How could the Hawk Faction overlook this formidable power of the Alien Fleet? Yet they had their own confidence: "Hmph! Did you think we hadn't thought about this? We have already contacted all Space Power's Astronomical Observation Institutions, and at least within our solar system, there have been no observations of any Alien Fleet!"
This indicated that the research team from Alien Life had separated from the Fleet and come to our planet. As long as we acted quickly and mastered Alien Technology while the Fleet was absent, we would no longer need to fear them!
Many members of the Dove Faction wore expressions of disbelief, completely unable to accept such a reckless pursuit of low-probability outcomes by the Hawk Faction. "You’re all insane! Even with your tattered socks for thinking, you must know that it's unlikely we can grasp alien technology in such a short time!"
"I firmly disagree with this proposal!"
Members of the Hawk Faction sneered, completely unconcerned with the objections from the Dove Faction. "Disagree? What does it matter? We have already taken action against the Alien UFO. Even if you want to compromise now, can the Alien Life agree to that?"
This was precisely why the Hawk Faction acted first and held meetings later.
The Dove Faction was even more enraged; being dragged into this situation against their will was hardly a cause for joy.
"We don't care; you can just throw someone under the bus. This is our offer to the Alien Life, and it shows our sincerity!"
The members of the Hawk Faction could no longer maintain their mocking demeanor and began to look dumbfounded. They had seen thick-skinned individuals before, but none as brazen as the Dove Faction!
The argument between the two factions escalated, with tables being slammed and objects being thrown, and neither side could convince the other.
In the end, it fell to the Centrist to mediate, but even they struggled to bring peace. This was a critical decision that needed to be contested; how could it be easily resolved?
Members of the External Intelligence Bureau, who were observing the meeting, found it impossible to interject.
The Centrists participating via video conference were getting a headache from listening to the chaos. In an effort to mediate, they reluctantly introduced a new topic.
"By the way, there is an urgent matter that requires your cooperation, Four Major Grain Merchants."
With the appearance of Alien Life in the Great Federation, public panic ensued, causing prices of various food items to soar while supply dwindled significantly.
To maintain stability among the populace, we hope you can cooperate slightly; prices can remain stable within the current range but must not rise any further.
