A few people attracted the fire at the front, allowing William to slip in through the window. It felt too easy, almost suspiciously so.
Anthony wouldn’t tell William that it was Charles who was responsible for guarding the west side of the building, and had temporarily pulled people away under the pretense of supporting the front entrance. Otherwise, by the time they arrived, they would have already been shot to pieces by the Serpent's men reaching through the windows with their firearms.
Anthony had no choice but to lie: “I planned this all along. The west side is full of Serpent members; those guys are impulsive and easy to provoke. So when the gunfire starts at the front, they’ll definitely rush over to support, leaving no one behind.”
“It’s all part of my calculations. Don’t worry, William. Don’t scare yourself.”
After hearing this, William’s heart felt somewhat steadied. The audience couldn’t help but praise Anthony.
“The ones who know you best are often your enemies. This saying holds true; Anthony has fought against the Serpents for so many years that he understands them too well.”
“What do you think the Military-Industrial Complex is thinking? How dare they let Serpent members guard the door? These people are lawless and reckless; how can they handle such a task?”
“Ultimately, everything is too rushed. Under the alien's manipulation, the upper echelons of the Great Federation acted recklessly in their arrests, leading to unforeseen consequences. The Military-Industrial Complex and Arms Tycoons are unwilling to be passive and are fighting back, which is also quite reckless. Both sides have their flaws.”
“Let’s give a shout-out to those guys at the front; everything is beyond their plans, so it’s impossible to cover every angle.”
William couldn’t see Danmaku and could only wait anxiously. “Mr. Anthony, what should we do next?”
Just recently, William had joined the Investigation Bureau and now found himself part of a Stealth Team executing an infiltration mission. It was all too unfamiliar, enough to shake his confidence.
Anthony remained calm. “We wait.”
William was puzzled and didn’t understand what they were waiting for. Once their undercover team outside drew fire and retreated, if the Serpent members came in large numbers, they would be trapped.
Anthony was indeed waiting for Charles’s support. Two Serpent members who were similar in height and build to Anthony and William arrived here in confusion. They didn’t understand why their boss had suddenly called them over but obeyed without questioning.
Hearing footsteps, Anthony thought to himself that Charles was reliable. He hid William away and prepared to ambush when the two Serpent members entered.
With a plan in mind but not fully aware of what was happening, plus being in their own camp where their guard was down, the Serpent members were caught off guard.
Only then did Anthony strip them of their clothes to change into them: “There are Surveillance Cameras everywhere outside; we need disguises to infiltrate.”
Moreover, the attire of the Serpent was not overly complicated. We still needed to ambush a few internal personnel and swap outfits with them.
Anthony moved swiftly, already dressed while William was just managing to peel off his outer shirt. Quietly accelerating, he finished changing and caught up with Anthony.
The infiltration went smoothly; wherever the Serpent had defenses, Anthony seemed to glide through as if he belonged. There was no calculation, no planning—just a straightforward rush forward.
The guards left behind by the Serpent always seemed to receive their orders from the boss just before Anthony arrived, coincidentally rotating shifts with others. This created enough time and space for Anthony and William to pass through.
To avoid raising any doubts about the writer's skills among the audience, Anthony had to project an air of complete confidence as he casually remarked, "I know the Serpent's people too well. Their rotation intervals and movement speeds are all in my mind. The areas they are responsible for feel completely unguarded to me."
This is what having an insider means—it makes things easier. With Charles, the Cobra Boss, assisting him, Anthony figured he could probably slip through even with his eyes closed.
