With a flick of his wrist, Xu Lie summoned a bolt of lightning, then shifted his gaze away from the Magic Mirror held by the Female Mage. The other mages, however, remained captivated by the scene. Xu Lie was right; human hearts could be treacherous. These nobles actually expected us to offer reparations for the Magic Item?
It was unacceptable to indulge them. They had witnessed the disparity in strength between us and still harbored such greedy thoughts. It was hard to imagine what unreasonable demands they would make if Xu Lie had not intervened.
Xu Lie, not swayed by their flattery, returned to the matter at hand: Enough of this idle chatter; we should focus on recruitment. Several Enrollment Teachers still remembered the complete process. Typically, an Enrollment Airship would fly to the Kingdom Capital, while other teachers skilled in Flying Magic or Living Wing Magic would have to exert themselves a bit more.
From the capital as a center point, four Enrollment Teachers would set off in fixed directions, landing in towns and villages to recruit students. It was unavoidable; currently, Xu Lie did not possess any magical paper or pen that could automatically record the names of aspiring mages and send them via owl for enrollment. Thus, the Enrollment Teachers had to fly out personally.
Under Xu Lie's instructions, they gathered Magical Rice and corresponding Growth Liquid, along with Contact Magical Tools. They headed to the bottom of Feizhou and boarded a Small Airship to fly in different directions. The Small Airship was just under a hundred meters long, with an interior designed for spatial expansion, making it spacious enough to accommodate students.
Jia Er was responsible for recruitment in the eastern direction of Golden Sun King City. He had a kind face and tousled blonde hair. By modern standards, at first glance, Jia Er gave off a somewhat dubious uncle vibe. Yet his honest demeanor revealed a quality reminiscent of a reformed rogue or wayward youth upon closer inspection.
Not long after taking off, they spotted a small village. Villages near the capital fell under Feizhou's jurisdiction and did not require the Enrollment Teachers to land there. After flying a considerable distance further, they came across a small town. Jia Er did not land but instead took out a finger-sized Mud Doll and tossed it down.
After releasing it, he continued flying without pause. The Mud Doll grew larger with exposure to the wind and soon transformed into a towering Mud Puppet that surpassed even the height of the town's walls.
The sudden appearance of such a creature left the guards atop the walls bewildered and in disarray. Fortunately, the Mud Doll did not engage in any destructive behavior; it simply followed Jia Er's pre-set magic instructions, striking its hands against the ground and channeling a small amount of magic into the earth.
This caused a slight tremor in the nearby ground.
The terrifying noise did not topple any buildings, yet it was still quite frightening! To an ordinary person, it seemed as if the Mud Doll monster had pressed down on the ground, causing an earthquake. Although it was just a tremor, the Mud Doll had indeed pressed down, as if it were dancing on the ground. Wouldn't that shake the entire city to its core?
The city guards were even more terrified; they hastily discarded their weapons and armor, scrambling to flee. Staying on the city walls was no longer an option. Who knew if the walls would collapse and bury them alive inside?
In reality, the Mud Doll controlled by Jia Er was merely following Xu Lie's request to greet everyone before recruiting students. After the greeting, Jia Er's recruitment speech echoed from within the Mud Doll, identical to what Xu Lie had said earlier above the royal city—word for word without any changes. Finally, there was one additional line: students interested in enrolling should wait outside the city three days later for Jia Er to return.
This announcement barely quelled the fears of everyone in the small town. Not only Jia Er acted this way; the Enrollment Teachers responsible for the other three directions did the same. They either sent out familiars or summoned pets, each displaying their unique abilities.
Xu Lie's requirement was that within seven days, they needed to traverse the entire Jinri Kingdom back and forth while also accepting students. It was clear that recruiting from each city and village would be a race against time.
