In a world where wizards employ a variety of methods, there is always a way to accomplish their goals. Jia Er spent both his meals and rest aboard the Small Airship, dropping off a Mud Doll at every village without stopping.
After two days, they finally reached the border of the Jinri Kingdom. Seeing smoke rising in the distance, Jia Er let out a sigh of relief: this was the last one. Just hold on; once this year is over, he could have his students help out next year, and it wouldn't be so exhausting.
With this thought in mind, Jia Er steeled himself as he piloted the Small Airship towards the final village, only to sense something was amiss! What he had initially thought was smoke from cooking fires was actually the smoke from houses being burned down. A large number of villagers were crying out in panic, fleeing in disarray under the chase of several Dark Mist Hounds.
The Evil Mage behind this chaos seemed to be collecting fear and other negative emotions, as he had not killed many. At least, Jia Er hadn’t seen many corpses.
Evil Mage! Jia Er glared down below, clenching his fists tightly. The Evil Mage specifically targeted remote villages to avoid attracting the attention of Common Mages, and by sheer coincidence, he had stumbled upon Jia Er while recruiting students.
Jia Er couldn’t afford to be careless; the Small Airship was too conspicuous as it approached, offering no cover whatsoever. The Evil Mage hiding in the village would surely notice him unless he were blind or mentally incapacitated. He would definitely hide and wait for an opportunity to ambush.
Feeling a surge of determination, Jia Er first cast a scale magic on himself, his body covered in dark scales, then raised a Magic Shield. He quickly dropped several Mud Dolls to assist the villagers and eliminate those mist-like hounds formed from dark elements.
Finally, he activated a communication device to call for reinforcements. Xu Liexian had indeed been wise to equip them with magical communication devices; otherwise, he might have been no match for the Evil Mage alone.
Jia Er contacted those on the Great Feizhou side and explained the current situation. The mage responsible for communications immediately reported to Xu Lie. Xu Lie was eager for action; having spent his days on Feizhou mostly answering mages' questions or going fishing, he was itching for something more exciting.
Finally, something was happening. After confirming Jia Er's spatial coordinates through the communication device, they used spatial magic to traverse through the void and arrived at the scene in an instant with Anthony and Charles.
"Xu Lie, you're here!" Jia Er finally dared to stop channeling his magic and shut down the Magic Shield.
Xu Lie looked at him with a mix of disbelief and amusement. Here he was, inside the small Feizhou, fully shielded and putting on scales. How afraid was this person of getting hurt to have such complete defenses?
Xu Lie nodded at Jia Er as a form of greeting before turning to leave the small Feizhou. He casually scanned the area and quickly locked onto a figure trying to blend in with the fleeing villagers.
Charles?
"Leave it to me, sir."
Xu Lie lightly tapped his fingers against his arm, silently casting a spatial magic spell.
Meanwhile, hidden among the villagers, the Evil Mage Mai Zhe occasionally glanced up at the Feizhou in the sky, his eyes filled with malice.
"Come down! As long as that mage up there dares to descend, I'll make sure they understand the terror of an Evil Mage."
In a moment of disorientation, Mai Zhe blinked and found himself inexplicably relocated to the top of the small Feizhou, facing a refined middle-aged man.
Ha! A single person dares to confront him?
He had some guts.
Gradually revealing a sinister grin, Mai Zhe looked around. His gaze fell on Xu Lie, Anthony, and Jia Er, who was covered in scales. His smile faltered as he realized there was a mage among them!
Xu Lie seemed to pierce through his thoughts: "Why aren’t you smiling anymore?"
