However, since so many viewers are drawn to the magical effects, Xu Lie has no intention of disappointing them. He plans to showcase some impressive magical effects with Kefute, only to swiftly take him down at the end. This way, the audience gets their thrill while he boosts his personal ratings. A win-win situation is what counts.
Kefute, unaware of Xu Lie's intentions, quietly channels his magic. Suddenly, he emerges from the shadows, ready to unleash his spell. This isn't a straightforward confrontation; while he appears before Xu Lie, his magic strikes from behind in a cunning manner.
In the depths of the shadows, a pitch-black claw with sharp fingers like daggers reaches out, aiming directly at Xu Lie's back. At the same time, ten Evil Mages flash into view, each employing different tactics.
There’s an intangible Startle Spell that explodes in mid-air to shock the target; a foul-smelling Corruption Whirlwind; and a Thorny Bramble laced with blood-red threads. Everything happens so quickly, yet Xu Lie, well-prepared, has ample time to deliberately face the camera.
He smirks slightly, putting on a show of bravado: "Interesting."
With that thought, he casts his spells.
A Zero-Level spell allows him to summon an invisible force that intercepts the black claw; a First-Level Light Magic dispels the faint glow of fear within him; a Second-Level Wood Magic fills the air with a sweet fragrance, instantly replacing the foul stench; and a Fourth-Level Fire Magic ignites fiercely. With a stomp of his left foot, a ring of fire rapidly expands outward!
The blood-soaked thorns on the ground are ignited in mere seconds, turning to ashes as the flames continue to spread uncontrollably towards Kefute and the Evil Mages.
It’s just him! Kefute has been on high alert since he launched his attack. Although he is astonished by Xu Lie's swift and calm counterattack, he is even more pleased that it’s truly only Xu Lie standing alone without any ambush: "Attack!"
No matter how powerful a magician is, can he really take on dozens of Evil Mages?
Soon enough, more and more Evil Mages emerge from the narrow shadows—ten, twenty, thirty, forty—until all fifty jump into view. The amassed Dark Magic surges heavily towards Xu Lie.
The sky darkened, engulfed in shadows, as a torrent of dark elements obscured the starlight.
The Evil Mages unleashed their sinister spells, crashing down upon Xu Lie like an unstoppable wave.
Bones, flesh, cursed souls, negative emotions;
decaying insects, poisonous flies, sickly rats, and human-faced spiders;
black sludge, murky waters, green flames, and ominous dark lightning;
a comprehensive assault that overwhelmed the senses with repulsive sights, sounds, and smells while physically aiming to reduce him to ashes.
For any other mage, even those as formidable as Reiner or Inquilinar, such an onslaught would be nearly impossible to withstand.
Yet Xu Lie was different; the more spectacular the collective magic became, the more satisfied he felt.
