"Great, thank you!" Ni Xingyi replied almost without hesitation. To her, Mengli Delson was a deity in her industry; how could she pass up the chance to meet such a figure?
With Li Wenhou bringing up Mengli Delson, Ni Xingyi's attitude toward him underwent a complete transformation. Li Wenhou felt secretly pleased; this was exactly the effect he wanted.
"Miss Ni, I think it's time for your friends to introduce themselves," Li Wenhou suggested.
"Uh, alright," Ni Xingyi said as she looked at Qin Xusha.
Qin Xusha reluctantly introduced herself briefly, followed by Jiang Lu. Although Jiang Lu disliked Li Wenhou, she didn't want to make things awkward for Ni Xingyi and introduced herself honestly, like a nervous student standing up to speak.
"And you? What do you do?" Li Wenhou asked Jiang Chen.
"I'm currently not working," Jiang Chen replied casually.
Li Wenhou scrutinized Jiang Chen. The latter's nonchalant demeanor irritated him; he felt Jiang Chen was putting on airs in front of him, which he found quite annoying.
"From what your sister said, you're not from a wealthy family. Not working seems like a waste of time. By my age, I had already started planning my own law firm. But you’re lucky; through your sister, you get to know Miss Ni and Miss Qin—such distinguished young ladies! Heh, quite impressive. By the way, I have some connections in Huaxia; how about I help you find a job? I can't promise much, but you could definitely earn around ten thousand a month," Li Wenhou said with a condescending smile, treating Jiang Chen like an unemployed loser.
Li Wenhou had no idea that Jiang Chen was Qin Xusha's lifesaver; he assumed Jiang Chen knew Qin Xusha through Jiang Lu since they were classmates based on their introductions.
This elite type of person like Li Wenhou tended to be exclusive. While Jiang Lu was beautiful and her family background might not matter much to him, Jiang Chen—a man without any connections—dared to sit with him. This made Li Wenhou feel dissatisfied; he needed to put Jiang Chen down to feel better about himself.
"Heh, my brother doesn’t need a job. He doesn’t rely on family background or education; he’s doing way better than you ever will. So there's no need for your concern," Jiang Lu interjected through Qin Xusha, having already understood everything about Jiang Chen.
