At that moment, the camera shifted outside the building, capturing both the third and fourth floors. The audience clearly saw the splashes on the fourth floor and Xu Lie casually tossing a rope in the restroom on the third floor.
Two undercover agents reacted swiftly, charging through the curtain of water without hesitation. They didn’t care about the noise; the faucet had been ripped off, creating quite a commotion. Guo Zi Lian drew his gun and prepared to break down the door, while a tall figure leaped onto the partition of the restroom stall, looking down from above—there was no one inside.
In the next stall, he lunged at another partition, but still found it empty, so he moved on to the next one. Guo Zi Lian silently followed suit, and after four consecutive leaps through the air, the tall figure urgently reported, “Report! We lost him; the target is not in the restroom.”
In such a situation, brevity was essential. The faucet and other noises were of no immediate value; Xu Lie had clearly left in a hurry, and time was of the essence. Guo Zi Lian quickly ran to the window ledge and scanned outside. There were no white coats or anyone fleeing in sight.
He noticed a fellow undercover agent stationed at the back door of the clinic, with a drone hovering overhead. Guo Zi Lian felt a wave of relief wash over him. His eyes caught sight of fresh marks on the window ledge where ropes had been violently rubbed: “Old Hong, there are traces! Downward! He didn’t escape outside!”
The tall figure understood: “The target likely used pre-prepared ropes or cloth to jump from the restroom to a lower floor; he hasn’t escaped!”
Zhang Yutao, commanding from the Special Investigation Team's headquarters, sensed that things were getting complicated. Instead of rushing to direct the tall figure and Guo Zi Lian, he picked up another communication device. “The target may have jumped to the restroom below!”
The first two teams quickly descended to lower floors, instructing undercover agents there to be on alert for suspicious individuals. At the same time, they cautiously approached the restroom, keeping a close watch until all personnel from three floors were assembled before launching a search.
As soon as they reached their designated floor, undercover agents halted their steps and crowded downwards. Those who had been stationed by the elevator began to take action.
While the tall figure and Guo Zi Lian were checking the restroom, Xu Lie removed his mask and white coat, pulling out a black shirt that his mini robot had hidden away for him. He then grabbed a khaki scarf and wrapped it tightly around his hair and face.
The technological level in Script World was similar to Xu Lie's previous life; combined with surveillance systems, it was formidable enough for quick identification. However, being wrapped so tightly could only temporarily fool facial recognition systems but wouldn’t evade members of the Monitoring Team who were watching live through cameras.
Unfortunately for Xu Lie, with so many people in the hospital, he appeared highly suspicious; even passersby might report him to authorities if they caught sight of him.
It could be like a hospital, which would seem more normal. At least passersby would think it was some kind of illness that shouldn't be exposed to the public.
When Zhang Yutao received the report and subsequent arrangements, Xu Lie swaggered out, taking note of the audience's comments.
"Just now, when Xu Lie jumped out the window, it really startled me. Looks like he was prepared for this!"
"The Special Investigation Team has also made proper arrangements. They didn't all rush upstairs but left a team on the lower floors, just in case the man tries to escape."
