Xu Lie had little time to hesitate. Taking two steps to the left, he found a nurse. "Excuse me, could you help me?"
The nurse, taken aback by the request, replied patiently, "What’s the matter?"
Xu Lie tried to make his tone sound timid. "My face hurts when the wind blows; the doctor said it’s some kind of bacterial infection, but I can’t remember the details. I just can’t be exposed to the wind, but I need to go to the Inpatient Building, and the outpatient department is full of air conditioning."
"Could you please help me get there on a stretcher? It would be best if I could cover my face with a blanket."
The nurse blinked a few times. After years of working in the field, this was her first time encountering such a peculiar request. The man before her was tall but seemed timid; she had heard of cases where patients couldn’t be exposed to the wind, but none had been as fearful as this one.
"If it’s not too much trouble, why not just walk? I can push you to the Inpatient Building," she suggested.
She thought about the responsibility she would bear if he accidentally got exposed to the wind along the way. Even though she was kind-hearted, facing such a troublesome situation made her wish to decline politely. "Sir, that really isn’t appropriate..."
Xu Lie couldn’t let her refuse him. Information from Danmaku indicated that Undercover was getting closer, and he didn’t have time to find someone else. So instead of persuading her further, he pulled out two bills from his pocket—each one was the largest denomination in Script World. "Please, help me."
"Sir, this really isn’t appropriate..."
"Just help me." Xu Lie pulled out four more bills. It wasn’t that he was stingy with money in Script World; he had exchanged a lot and had more than enough. However, due to habits from his past life, he rarely carried cash and had only brought some as a precaution.
"Alright, follow me," the nurse finally relented.
The power of money worked wonders; she no longer hesitated and cheerfully led Xu Lie to a stretcher, gently covering him with a blanket. She even asked warmly, "Sir, do you need some space for ventilation?"
"No need," Xu Lie replied from beneath the blanket, his voice muffled. "It’s just a short distance; the Inpatient Building isn’t far."
The nurse nodded and pushed him along while actively asking passersby to step aside. Just then, they brushed past an Undercover agent who was scanning the area for suspicious individuals.
The Undercover agent didn’t glance in Xu Lie’s direction at all; upon hearing the nurse’s request, he even stepped aside willingly to clear the path for Xu Lie’s departure.
This scene amused onlookers greatly.
It was over; I couldn't imagine how the head of the Special Investigation Team would explain after reviewing the surveillance footage of the brother who had just brushed past the Undercover agent.
Xu Lie was indeed wealthy. He had previously stayed in luxurious hotels, and now he was involved in money laundering. It was clear that no matter the society, money played a significant role.
Oh dear, the nurse was still too young. If only she could delay things a bit longer, Xu Lie might reveal even more.
Wrapped in my blanket, I could also browse through the Danmaku comments. Scanning through a few lines, I couldn't help but chuckle; those who had once praised him were now somewhat eager for his downfall.
As the nurse pushed Xu Lie toward the elevator, back at the headquarters of the Special Investigation Team, Zhang Yutao received reports from lower floors about Undercover agents returning without discovering any suspicious individuals.
They could only focus their attention on the surveillance: what was happening?
Members of the Monitoring Team, driven by a desire to redeem themselves, stared wide-eyed at the screen, not daring to blink as they concentrated on the footage from the restroom on that floor.
During the first viewing, no white coats were seen entering or exiting. They had to rewind and watch again. Finally, they spotted a stranger wrapped in a headscarf and wearing a black shirt exiting the restroom.
Team Leader, we found him! Without needing to scrutinize further, the monitoring team members confirmed that this person, who had slipped up in disguise, was undoubtedly Xu Lie.
