Chen Tao took a moment to catch his breath, pressing his hand against his heart with a pained expression as he struggled to rise. His eyes, filled with defiance, were fixed on the Second Prince, who sat calmly sipping tea.
Cough! Another trickle of blood escaped from the corner of Chen Tao's mouth, which he forced back down. "Yu Men, what grudge do you have against the Second Prince? Why must you strike us down so ruthlessly?"
Xu Lie's powerful and swift kick struck Chen Tao hard, leaving him reeling. No matter how potent the Cang Hai Jue or Zhen Qi was, it could not heal him quickly enough. Even speaking became a challenge; every word from Chen Tao was laced with a sickly weakness.
"You seem a bit naive," Xu Lie remarked, observing Chen Tao's demeanor. Having been brought here by his men, Chen Tao had yet to experience the trials of the martial world. His behavior reflected the innocence of a newcomer, devoid of any signs of the hardships that come with growth.

The next words from Xu Lie pierced through his heart like a dagger: "Later, when you appeared, I inquired about it. It turns out one of my subordinates acted on my orders to recruit Yu Men but was rejected instead and spoke disrespectfully towards me."
"Perhaps in an attempt to curry favor with me or out of loyalty, that subordinate took it upon himself to mobilize men armed with crossbows and eliminated Yu Men. Such reckless actions could tarnish my reputation; they could also lead to complications like you—someone who could grow into an endless source of trouble if left unchecked. Thus, I punished him."
"But do you know? That subordinate worked diligently for me and had successfully recruited several renowned figures from the martial world despite facing multiple rejections before. He had even gone so far as to take lethal measures when necessary, which shows he was not lying about his capabilities. After punishing him, I still rewarded him for his loyalty."
"In the end, we can only blame Yu Men for speaking carelessly."

A wave of murmurs swept through the audience as they clearly showed interest in the appearance of the Second Prince.
