Xu Lie returned not to add to Lu Youyou's worries, but immediately raised his tone with enthusiasm: "Don't worry, Test Tube Technology has made significant breakthroughs. Industrial mass production is just around the corner. It won't be long—at most a couple of weeks—and I’ll be out."
Hearing this good news, Lu Youyou felt happy but also realized that Xu Lie's appearance might only be temporary. "So what are you doing now?" she asked.
Xu Lie used prison as a metaphor: "Even prisoners can go out for fresh air; why would I want to stay there all the time? I applied for a day off under the pretext of being too tired from research, just to come see you and share this good news, so you wouldn’t worry."
The head of the research institute agreed that a balance between work and rest was necessary, allowing him to come out for a day.
Lu Youyou wanted to retort with something teasing like, "Who’s worried about you?" but ultimately couldn’t bring herself to say it. Instead, she held onto Xu Lie's arm tightly. No words were needed; this simple gesture silently conveyed how much she had been concerned for him and missed him during their time apart.
Gradually, the electric scooter came to a stop. They had arrived at the school, and Lu Youyou felt a bit melancholic. Why couldn’t they have gone slower? Why couldn’t time move a little more slowly? Happy moments always seemed fleeting. If only the journey from home to Ancheng University could be longer.
"Is this really my university?" she thought. "It feels so small for such a big school."

He wasn’t local and had to keep both hands on the handlebars while riding the scooter, making it impossible for him to pull out his phone for navigation.
An awkward silence fell between them as they both sensed a row of black crows flying overhead, cawing ominously as if mocking them silently.
"Get out! Let me drive!"
After some twists and turns, Lu Youyou finally arrived at Ancheng University. Fortunately, the weather was clear and there were no delays.
As she got off the scooter, she kept muttering, "What a loss."
She realized that Xu Lie was quite the trickster—he had given her a ride only to have her return the favor. It seemed he had taken full advantage of her kindness.
Inside Ancheng University, each department had clearly marked registration locations, making it easy for her to complete her registration quickly.
Pulling Xu Lie along, she began exploring the campus, planning to have lunch together later. "This is great! I heard that students living on campus now have single rooms."
Xu Lie had not expected that university students in this world lived so well. In his previous life, he had shared a room with seven others during college. However, upon reflection, he realized that due to the population crisis in this world, it made sense for people to have single rooms since there were so few of them.
"Why don't you live on campus?" he asked, a hint of envy in his voice.
Lu Youyou, with her hands behind her back, took a step back while facing Xu Lie. "I live nearby," she replied.
The two continued their aimless conversation, and the passing university students did not cast any surprised glances their way. Xu Lie couldn't help but feel a sense of relief; it seemed that the initial excitement had faded.
He used to be quite the internet sensation in the world of "Not Allowed to Fall in Love." Just a brief appearance would send fans rushing toward him like sharks sensing blood in the water. Yet now, after some time had passed, hardly anyone recognized him anymore.
As they approached a small pond on campus, where there were fewer people around, Xu Lie took out an album. "Take a look at this; let me know if you like it. It's a gift I prepared for you."
