On your first day at the Investigation Bureau, it’s understandable to feel uncertain. The Serpent Men are lunatics; they won’t obediently extend their hands for you to cuff them like a baby. Instead, they’ll greet you with their heavy and crude submachine guns, challenging your naive sense of justice.
The Investigation Bureau has never lacked kind-hearted rookies like you, most of whom meet their end during negotiations with the Serpent Men, falling victim to their counterattacks. Pristo believes this is part of the training; at the very least, it teaches skilled shooters like him what happened to the Saint Mother.
William shuts his mouth, feeling a subtle conflict between his superior's teachings and his own sense of justice. Just because the Serpent Men are likely insane and will probably resist arrest, does that mean they should be taken down first? It’s not that William doubts his captain; it’s just that such actions don’t align with law enforcement protocols. Is this really justice?
Pristo doesn’t say more. He takes a deep breath, finishing a cigarette in three puffs, revealing that he isn’t as calm as he appears. He casually crushes the butt underfoot and approaches with a serious expression: "Turn on the Law Enforcement Recorder."
William follows suit, though he doesn’t fully understand, he obeys the order and activates the recording device. They pass two bodies of smugglers, and Pristo surveys the Red Container: what could be inside?
These rookie smugglers dared to bring goods into the metropolis, so they must know about the Serpent Men. If they were bold enough to open fire, what crucial items could be hidden inside? This was directed at the recorder; earlier, Pristo had analyzed that the high-ranking Serpent Men suddenly taking an interest in such a minor smuggling case must indicate something amiss.
Either these rookie smugglers have connections with the Serpent Men’s senior management, or there’s something wrong with the goods themselves. Now that the Serpent Men are engaged in a bloody battle with smugglers, showing no mercy whatsoever, it’s clear that there’s a significant issue with whatever is being transported.
Facing unknown yet important contraband, Pristo's words serve as a foundation; regardless of any changes that may arise later, he would at least have done no wrong. This is the rich experience of a seasoned professional.
Once he confirms that William has recorded this segment, Pristo steps forward to check and discovers that the Red Container isn’t locked! Coughing slightly, he realizes that this container doesn’t require a key; it can be opened manually. He almost forgot about the recorder—he mustn’t act like a rookie.
Pristo silently warns himself while carefully opening the container just a little. Seeing no goods spill out, he slowly opens it completely. Inside the large container sits a base, and on top of it lies an imposing five-meter-long shell!
What’s most alarming isn’t the shell itself but rather a sticker affixed to it! A circular yellow sticker with black edges features a solid black circle surrounded by three black fan-like designs—it's unmistakably the Nuclear Weapon Symbol!
Pristo's pupils dilated to their maximum, his Adam's apple visibly bobbing up and down as he tried to take a step back, but his legs felt weak and unresponsive to his brain's commands.
William was equally shaken, trembling violently at the sight of a bomb lying quietly before them, sending chills down his spine.
It wasn't just them; even the viewers of Dimension Outside, watching from behind a screen, were terrified.
"Is that a nuclear bomb? Are we really starting this show with something so massive?"
"At this scale, even if it's a Tactical Nuclear Weapon, it must be a miniaturized version, not one capable of wiping out an entire city."
"Details aside, this is a Tactical Nuclear Weapon! Whether it's tactical or not, can they really show this in a film and television drama?"
"This is too intense! The moment I saw the Nuclear Weapon Symbol, I felt my heart race even through the screen."
Silence enveloped the room; both Pristo and William were mute, not daring to utter a word. It felt as if the bomb was incredibly unstable, and even the breath they exhaled could trigger its detonation.
Yet their silence was interrupted by those who had boarded the ship: "Mark? Poniel? Are they dead?"
Pristo froze at the mention of Mark's name before realizing that one of the members of the Serpent Strike trio had been talking about him earlier. They had mentioned something about Mark owing money and now that he was dead, who would they go to? This meant that Ryan from the Investigation Bureau's Third Action Team hadn't arrived yet; Serpent Strike's backup was already in place?!
Damn it!
