Pristo found himself in a dilemma. Thanks to the fear instilled by the Tactical Nuclear Weapon, both he and William remained silent, not making a sound, which temporarily kept them from being discovered by the Serpent's reinforcements.
If they could quietly slip away right now, there was a high chance they would escape. But what would happen to the Tactical Nuclear Weapon if they just ran off? Would it be left for the Serpent's people? God knows what those lunatics would do with such a thing. They might go insane one day and cause a Nuclear Explosion in the metropolis!
So, staying behind to guard the Tactical Nuclear Weapon and confront the Serpent's reinforcements? Ha! Let’s not forget that just a few minutes ago, two smugglers armed only with handguns were turned into Swiss cheese by the Serpent’s submachine guns.
It felt like a cycle repeating itself; Pristo and William were just two men with two handguns facing an unknown number of Serpent reinforcements armed with who knows what. Trying to protect the Tactical Nuclear Weapon was nothing but a pipe dream.
Pristo had long passed the age of being easily swept up in adrenaline. With a wife and kids at home, he wasn’t about to take unnecessary risks. This seasoned veteran chose to flee. Worst case, he would resign after this and move his family far away from the metropolis to start anew in another city.
Though it would lead to a more difficult life ahead, it was nothing compared to the possibility of his entire family being vaporized in a Nuclear Explosion. Life was paramount.
Pristo gently tugged at William, signaling him to prepare for their escape. However, William was reluctant, his brows furrowed in confusion as he whispered in a barely audible voice, “Captain! We can’t leave; we can’t let the Serpent discover this.”
A rough hand covered William’s mouth as Pristo’s gaze turned colder than that of the rookie. He replied in a hushed tone, “Obey orders!”
The rookie was indeed impulsive; he had previously praised William for being obedient, but now it seemed he was easily swayed by emotions. Unable to argue against Pristo, William clenched his fists but ultimately complied with his captain’s command, reluctantly following him.
They relaxed their bodies and slowly moved their feet, inching away behind another container as they began their retreat.
Just as they left, Serpent members arrived: “Hey! Poniel, are you still alive? Wake up!”
“Stop shouting! You’re dead if you get hit from behind. Looks like we have some cute little mice hiding back there who snatched Poniel’s tail.”
“Xie Te! What about those two bottles of liquor that Poniel took from me? Can’t find them?”
“Bojins, this container is open; could it be that the little mouse who stole from Poniel is hiding inside?”
The person who was cursed by the Serpent was momentarily silent. Faced with a Tactical Nuclear Weapon, regardless of whether it was tactical or strategic, just the sight of the Nuclear Weapon Symbol was enough to turn anyone into a quivering mess.
"Bo, Bojins! This, this! The socks of the gods!"
"Shut up! I’m trying to contact the boss, I’m making a video call."
Listening quietly, Pristo let out a sigh of relief, retreating even more stealthily, careful not to make a sound. Just as he was successfully reaching the edge of the Transport Ship and about to disembark, he stumbled.
The captain of the Investigation Bureau's Third Action Team, Ryan, personally led a team to storm the Transport Ship. Fully armed, each member wore bulletproof vests that glinted slightly in the light.
They caught Pristo, who was preparing to escape, completely off guard. Ryan was momentarily confused. "Pristo? What are you doing here?"
"Listen to me!" Pristo saw that their reinforcements from the Investigation Bureau had arrived and quickly changed his tone. "There’s a Tactical Nuclear Weapon! There are people from the Serpent!"
"Don’t doubt it! There is a Tactical Nuclear Weapon! Tell your people to be careful when firing! It’s right next to a Red Container! Ryan, trust me!"
The once quiet Transport Ship suddenly erupted with Pristo's roar. As long as the Serpent's people weren’t all deaf, they would hear him loud and clear.
Immediately grabbing their firearms, they aimed to seize the initiative and avoid being caught off guard. Ryan and Pristo had worked together for many years; their mutual understanding and trust were high.
