"Warning! Switch to burst fire, and make sure not to hit the Tactical Nuclear Weapon!"
In reality, the Tactical Nuclear Weapon was not as fragile as they imagined; a tactical shell loaded with a nuclear warhead would not detonate just because it was hit by a bullet. But who knew? None of the people present were physicists or nuclear researchers, so they could only act according to their simplistic understanding.
The Third Action Team engaged in a firefight with the Serpent team. The Serpent members, undeterred by the risks, fired their weapons without hesitation, knowing the nuclear bomb was behind them. They charged forward recklessly, squeezing the trigger and unleashing a hail of bullets. Even a guy named Bojins dared to throw grenades! As long as they ensured the grenades were thrown a safe distance away from the Tactical Nuclear Weapon, they felt free to toss them around.
On the other hand, despite having superior numbers, the Third Action Team was constrained by their concern for the nuclear bomb. They could only fire in short bursts on the transport ship filled with containers, limiting their effectiveness. Fortunately, with so many containers around, the shrapnel from the grenades only caused discomfort to some team members without inflicting serious harm.
"Damn it! We can't keep going like this!" Ryan saw two of his subordinates get hit by gunfire from the Serpent team, and his eyes turned red with anger. He quickly contacted the Investigation Bureau for reinforcements while picking up a loudspeaker to negotiate: "Our Investigation Bureau is already on the way! You won't be able to escape!"
"Put down your weapons, and we can reduce your sentences!"
"Xie Te! Do you really want to spend your life in prison?"
The Serpent members ignored him, and their leader Bojins even laughed out loud: "Dear gentlemen of the Investigation Bureau! You don't think we have backup, do you?!"
"Damn it! This is the first time I've heard someone think they can outnumber us in Metropolis!"
As those words echoed out, both Pristo and Ryan felt immense pressure. If the Serpent team continued to go wild and called in more reinforcements, what would happen to their Investigation Bureau? Would they have to concede defeat in Metropolis? Withdraw? Absolutely not!
The more likely scenario was that this situation would escalate from a small-time smuggling operation into a widespread conflict between black and white forces. The transport ship gradually transformed into a meat grinder, continuously drawing both sides into a deadly confrontation.
The more they thought, the greater the pressure became. Pristo and Ryan were both cursing inwardly, wondering what kind of situation they had found themselves in. William was doing his best to support his colleagues in the Third Action Team while handling his own pistol.
But no matter how skilled he was, it didn't matter. The Serpent Men across from them were unleashing a relentless barrage of gunfire, bullets flying like they were free. William didn’t dare to expose himself; he could only cautiously extend his gun out from behind cover, firing a couple of shots without even knowing if he hit anything. In such a chaotic situation, there was no room for marksmanship.
He understood now why Captain Pristow had launched such a sudden ambush; these snake-wielding lunatics were truly mad! In this kind of scenario, where they were spraying bullets with reckless abandon, anyone who dared to step out and negotiate would instantly become a target.
The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder, stinging his nostrils. William finally realized that dealing with the Cobra Gang meant abandoning any sense of procedure. Gunfights could elevate the adrenaline levels of the audience, making it all the more thrilling to watch.
"Damn, this is just the first episode, and it's already so intense!"
"Great! Both sides are still recruiting reinforcements; I want to see rivers of blood!"
"They're at a stalemate now; it all depends on which side's reinforcements arrive first. If the Serpent Men get there first, it'll be a pincer attack; if the Investigation Bureau arrives first, they'll have the numbers."
