Late at night, while William and Rimsher were conducting investigations at their residence, the Great Federation's Senior Management sprang into action. Mi Ton had assembled an elite team to carry out a collective arrest of the Arms Tycoon and its top executives. It is important to note that on the territory of the Great Federation, the Arms Tycoons did not merely sell arms.
They had effectively transformed into violent organizations, receiving investments from major conglomerates and supporting numerous Members of Parliament. Like insatiable monsters, their greed devoured entire industrial chains. Ultimately, they formed a colossal interest group known as the Military-Industrial Complex. Ordinary measures—such as legislation or investigations—could not shake this behemoth in the slightest.
Thus, the remaining Senior Management of the Great Federation could not afford to delay; they decided on an efficient course of action to assist Mi Ton in capturing all key members. Only by doing so could they successfully fulfill the orders of Alien Life and obtain the coveted Longevity Drug.
The intentions were good, and the plan was discreet. Generally speaking, if one aimed to strike against such a Military-Industrial Complex, there would inevitably be someone leaking information due to the complex web of interests involved, making it nearly impossible to maintain secrecy. However, this time Alien Life specifically targeted the Arms Company, prompting all Senior Management outside of these Arms Tycoons to unite.
Moreover, within the Arms Company, an elderly individual nearing death provided inside information, which helped keep everything under wraps. Unfortunately, within Senior Management, a small number of insightful individuals opposed this plan.
This minority faction among Senior Management could be termed the Hawk Faction. Unlike the Dove Faction that sought compromise, the Hawk Faction firmly believed that Alien Life posed an absolute threat to human society; it was a matter of survival—either they would perish or their adversaries would. The Hawk Faction also believed that Alien Life's interest in targeting the Arms Company stemmed from fear of human firepower.
For the Hawk Faction, even if a firefighting operation succeeded, it would mean that the Great Federation was crippling itself by dismantling its military capabilities—something they could not accept. As a result, this small minority among Senior Management received intelligence that led to Mi Ton's failure in capturing their targets.
The situation escalated uncontrollably. Within the Great Federation, what was once a murky mix had formed into a refined shade of gray; both sides needed darkness and thrived on it. Now it was akin to a family feud where each side wished for the other's demise.
After an initial strike aimed at Mi Ton's failed capture, the opposing faction quickly retaliated, mobilizing their personnel who were well aware of each other's positions and salaries.
The black faction received orders from their superiors to begin stirring up independence in various regions of the Great Federation. Anthony silently ended the communication, observing his two capable subordinates, who were relishing the unfolding situation. William, Rims, and even the viewers following the drama were left utterly astonished.
"What is the Great Federation playing at? Are they willing to incite internal strife for the sake of the Alien Life mission?"
"I have no idea; I just issued a task, and the Great Federation has stabbed itself twice," came the response.
Previously, William had thought that the title "Black and White" referred to the Serpent and the Investigation Bureau. Little did he know that the production team’s pattern was so vast; it pointed to the Great Federation's Black Military-Industrial Complex and others involved.
William struggled to comprehend the mindset of Senior Management: Why? Alien Life is lurking within our society. Instead of focusing on how to investigate or deal with Alien Life, they are turning against each other?
Since entering Anthony's office today, William felt as if his emotions had been on a rollercoaster, rising and falling unpredictably. Rims pondered once more whether it was time to truly escape; staying in the Great Federation seemed untenable, and he wondered if other countries would be any better.
