The leaders of the Extraterrestrial Bureau were scattered in their respective positions, all focused on the large screen displaying the online meeting. Meanwhile, the Senior Management was interrogating a few members of the Hawk Faction, demanding that they take responsibility for the attack on Alien Life.
The Hawk Faction, known for their aggressive stance, refused to entertain discussions about accountability. It was absurd! What responsibility was there to bear? According to the Great Federation Law, under low-altitude classification control, wasn't it clearly stated that we had the right to shoot down any foreign objects? If they wanted to pursue accountability, they should first go to the Great Federation and spend two weeks negotiating with those Members of Parliament to amend this law before coming back to talk to me!
The Hawk Faction's unwavering attitude stood firm against any attempts to assign blame. Although they were disappointed by the failure of the assassination attempt on Xu Lie, they never expected that a few rocket launchers could take down a UFO; that was indeed wishful thinking. The main issue was that the Sherwood District of the Great Federation had long been managed under the Military-Industrial Complex, making it difficult for the Hawk Faction to transport larger equipment.
However, their failure did not affect their fundamental objectives. Once they took action, everything would change. They had already prioritized launching rockets at Alien Life; would the weak Dove Faction dare to compromise again? Would they be dragged down with them?
The Dove Faction was genuinely furious, many with reddened eyes and contorted faces, wishing they could leap through the screen and confront them in person. When they secretly captured members of the Military-Industrial Complex earlier, this group of Hawk Faction had been covertly informing on them. Now, with their assassination plan against Alien Life, they had completely soured the relationship between Senior Management and Alien Life.
It was outrageous! Someone from the Dove Faction slammed their fist on the table: "You will be the sinners of Humanity! Once a cultural war breaks out, every one of you from the Hawk Faction will be nailed to history's pillar of shame!"
"No, please forgive my outburst; I misspoke. So many scientists have been telling us that Alien Life's technology is a dimensional strike against us; we absolutely cannot compete with it. Yet you still want to provoke a great war—are you trying to annihilate Humanity together?"
Humanity would be erased by Alien Life; there would be no more human civilization or history left behind—no pillar of shame in history at all!
Faced with the terrifying future described by the Dove Faction, the members of the Hawk Faction remain utterly unfazed. If they were truly afraid, they would not resort to assassination.
