Finding a few people to draw fire, they slipped in through the window. William felt it was too easy, so easy that it seemed unnatural.
Anthony wouldn’t tell William that on the west side of the building, Charles was responsible for guarding it and had temporarily pulled people away, claiming they were needed at the front entrance. Otherwise, when they ran over, they would have already been shot to pieces by the Serpent Man who had extended his firearm through the window.
So, Anthony had to tell a little lie: "I planned this all along. The west side is full of Serpent Men; those guys are the most impulsive and easily lose their rationality. So when the gunfire sounds at the front entrance, they will definitely rush over to support, leaving no one behind."
"This is all part of my calculations. Don’t worry, William. Stop scaring yourself."
After hearing this, William felt somewhat reassured. It also led the onlookers to praise Anthony.
"The ones who know you best are often your enemies." This saying was indeed true; Anthony had fought against the Serpent for so many years that he understood them all too well.
"What do you think the Military-Industrial Complex is really thinking? How could they dare let the Serpent Man guard the door? These guys have become so reckless; how could they take on such a task?"
"Ultimately, everything is too rushed. Under alien manipulation, the Great Federation's Senior Management acted rashly in their capture attempts, leading to unforeseen consequences. The Military-Industrial Complex and Arms Tycoons were unwilling to surrender quietly and fought back recklessly. Both sides have their flaws."
"I agree with the previous guy; everything was beyond plan, and there’s no way to cover every angle."
William couldn’t see Danmaku and could only wait anxiously: "Anthony, what should we do next?"
Just recently, William had just joined the Investigation Bureau and was now directly involved in a Stealth Team infiltration mission. It felt too foreign to him—so foreign that he lacked confidence.
Anthony remained calm: "We wait."
William was puzzled and didn’t understand what they were waiting for. Once their team outside drew fire and retreated, if the Serpent Men returned in large numbers, they would be trapped.
Anthony was naturally waiting for his colleague Charles to provide support. Two Serpent operatives with similar height and build as Anthony and William returned here in confusion. They didn’t understand why their boss suddenly called them here; they just obeyed without questioning.
Hearing footsteps, Anthony thought to himself that his colleague Charles was reliable. He hid William away and prepared to ambush when the two Serpent operatives entered.
With a calculated yet relaxed approach, coupled with being in their own camp where vigilance was at its lowest, the Serpent operatives were quickly subdued.
Only then did Anthony strip them of their clothes: "There are Surveillance Cameras everywhere outside; we need disguises to infiltrate."
Moreover, the Serpent's clothing made it impossible to enter highly confidential areas. We still needed to ambush a few internal personnel and change into their outfits.
Let's go.
Anthony moved swiftly, already changed while William was just managing to peel off his outer garment. Quietly speeding up, he finished changing and caught up with Anthony.
The infiltration went smoothly; wherever the Serpent had defenses, Anthony navigated as if he were returning home.
There was no calculation, no planning involved. It was simply a headlong rush forward.
The guards left behind by the Serpent always seemed to receive a notification from their boss just before Anthony arrived, instructing them to rotate with personnel from another location. This created enough time and space for Anthony and William to pass through.
To avoid raising suspicions among the audience about any plot holes, Anthony had to maintain an air of confidence, saying, "I know the Serpent Man all too well."
I have every detail of their rotation intervals and movement speeds stored in my mind. The areas they are responsible for are essentially unguarded for me.
This is what having an insider means—things become much easier.
With Charles, the Cobra Boss, assisting him, Anthony figured he could probably close his eyes and still manage to slip through without a hitch.
