With a ding, the elevator doors slid open.
Four elevators, nearly forty members of the Serpent Clan, crowded around Charles as they stepped into the building's Eighteenth Floor.
As they emerged, everyone was armed, but they were taken aback by the devastation that awaited them on the Eighteenth Floor.
What the hell happened here?
The once intact Eighteenth Floor had been reduced to ruins.
Thanks to the shattered walls and debris, as the Serpent Clan members stepped out, they immediately spotted Anthony and William. The Serpent members instinctively raised their weapons, aiming at them.
In a reflexive action, they blamed Anthony for the chaos, only to realize that such extensive destruction could not have been caused by just two humans.
The audience from Dimension Outside was equally bewildered.
【What happened here? How could it end up like this?】
【Could it be that a nuclear bomb exploded on the Eighteenth Floor? Otherwise, only a tank crashing in could cause this level of damage, right?】
【Come on, if a nuclear bomb had gone off, would the Serpent members still be able to use the elevator? That's ridiculous! Besides, the ceiling and floor are still intact; it can't be a nuclear bomb.】
Charles clapped his hands to draw the attention of the dazed Anthony and William. "Isn't this our beloved Mr. Anthony from the Metropolis era?"
"What's going on, Mr. Anthony? Have you come to Sherwood District in the Great Federation to make a living?"
"Could you explain what happened?"
Even with so many guns pointed at him, Anthony remained unfazed, merely exhaling a deep sigh filled with frustration.
William, equally lost and surrounded by Serpent members, glanced around with a bitter expression. "Mr. Anthony, it’s not a nuclear bomb."
Anthony looked at Charles before responding to his inquiry: "Alien Life."
Charles played his part well, furrowing his brow in feigned confusion without revealing any cracks in his facade. "What do you mean?"
Anthony pointed around him, emphasizing the row of shattered Senior Management windows. "This is the height of the Eighteenth Floor."
Thinking it over, he concluded that only an Alien Life UFO could have launched an attack from this altitude. With current human technology, even elite troops in helicopters could not have caused this level of destruction inside a building.
Upon receiving this answer, Charles immediately grew furious: "A Tactical Nuclear Weapon was taken by Alien Life?!"
This was also why Anthony sighed again; he ignored Charles and pulled out the communicator that Joseph had given him, his right hand trembling slightly.
Soon, the sounds of a lively banquet echoed from the communicator. Standing amidst the ruins, Anthony, William, and even the members of the Serpent Strike team in the distance could hear the commotion on the other end.
There was elegant music, the gentle clinking of wine glasses, and if one listened closely, they could catch the faint sound of cutlery hitting porcelain plates.
"Anthony? Hahaha, our hero from the Stealth Team, you finally contacted me! Thanks to your intel, we’ve achieved a great victory here!" Joseph's jubilant voice came through, brimming with uncontainable joy.
How could he not be happy? Quelling such an internal conflict would surely earn Joseph significant accolades; it was a remarkable achievement indeed. Amidst his delight, Joseph didn’t mind sharing a bit of glory with Anthony, who had brought him this success.
However, joy and sorrow are often lost on one another, especially when it comes to humans and Bionic Persons. Anthony felt that Joseph's exuberance clashed with the background music: "General Joseph, I—I must ruin your mood."
There’s something I believe I must report to you.
"Oh?" Joseph paid little heed to Anthony's tone; he dismissed it as mere alarmism.
