Xu Lie certainly did not appear arrogant. The so-called Meditation Method, which claimed to turn ordinary people into wizards, was merely borrowed knowledge with no original insights. During a trip to the world of Shendai, Tuha had taken Xu Lie to visit a mundane magic school. All students at the Shendai Magic School were required to learn the Meditation Method to step into the mysterious realm of magic.
With a little investment in translation and adaptation, the Meditation Method could be utilized in the world of Ben Huo as well. The idea of turning ordinary people into wizards?! Reiner leaned in too closely, almost pressing his face against Xu Lie's. Anthony intervened just in time, summoning two roots that had been buried deep underground.
The living roots emerged from the ground, wrapping around Reiner's arms and pulling him back. Xu Lie no longer engaged in playful banter like before; instead, he adopted a serious demeanor as if advocating for justice on behalf of all beings. He continued weaving an elaborate tale: "It’s a long story. I awakened my magical power when I was young and began exploring magic. My childhood friends were completely disconnected from magic; we lived in two entirely different worlds. I could genuinely feel their envy and jealousy, even a hint of despair.
After all, the life of a wizard is vastly different from that of an ordinary person. Thus, despite having magic, I lost all my friends. From that moment on, I became resolute in my belief."
I must find a way, a way that will lead everyone down the path of the mage. Fortunately, in the end, I truly found it.
Reiner listened foolishly, lost in memories as Xu Lie spoke lightly. As people grow older, they tend to reminisce about the past; having lived for so long, they have already lost too many. Those bonds that have gone and cannot return are often what they cherish the most.
Reiner also recalled the strict education from his father and the gentle warmth of his mother, who often made him hot pancakes at night. Due to his magical nature, he lived much longer than ordinary people; his mother had long since passed away, leaving him alone in this world. Not to mention friends—he could hardly remember their faces anymore, and no matter how he tried to recall them, nothing came to mind.
If Xu Lie's Meditation Method truly worked, how wonderful it would be if his mother could also practice magic alongside him! Would she still gently warm a pancake for him when he returned home?
