"If I were the king, I would do the same. That is mysterious magic, it is extraordinary! If given the chance for immortality, as a king, I would do everything in my power to seize it."
After calming the mages aboard the Flying Ship, Xu Lie amplified his voice with a spell, entering the second phase of their announcement: "Please do not panic, and do not take advantage of the chaos to cause trouble. We will be monitoring from above. Anyone who attempts to loot during this turmoil will be struck down by heavenly lightning."
"Allow me to introduce ourselves. We are teachers from Truth Magic School's Enrollment department. We are here to recruit a group of intelligent students aged ten and above to study magic with us. To demonstrate our sincerity, we will also present a batch of magical plants that yield ten thousand pounds per acre to the Golden Sun Kingdom."
"In seven days, we will land outside the city to conduct formal assessments and enroll students."
With the aid of the amplification spell, Xu Lie's words echoed throughout the city, causing some gangsters to hurriedly retreat in fear. They had initially thought about taking advantage of the situation once the thunder subsided, but realizing they were being watched from above made them think twice.
Inside the royal palace, the king and his ministers listened to Xu Lie's proclamation, each harboring their own thoughts. A calm and wise minister suggested, "Your Majesty, we are no match for these mages; it would be prudent to cooperate with them. Moreover, we cannot miss out on those magical plants yielding such a high harvest!"
However, a hot-headed noble retorted, "Preposterous! They show such disdain for our Golden Sun Kingdom; why should we cooperate? At the very least, they should offer magical treasures as an apology!"
The calm individuals supported the former argument while those driven by greed backed the latter. Each side presented valid points; after all, the Golden Sun Kingdom had no means to contend with these lofty mages and could only endure their wrath. Yet, the mages' actions were indeed offensive—greeting them with thunder within seconds of their arrival would infuriate anyone.
A heated debate ensued. On one side was the notion that refusing cooperation might lead to further punishment by lightning; on the other was the insistence that cooperation required some form of magical gift as an appeasement before they could comply.
No one could persuade anyone else.
Until suddenly, a deafening clap of thunder struck again.
This time, it directly hit the palace's main entrance, delivering a clear warning without words! The greedy nobles shrank back in fear, abandoning their earlier aggressive demands for reparations.
Magic—this was undoubtedly a form of remote surveillance employed by those wicked mages! They had heard tales of witches who could use mirrors to see distant scenes.
Damn it, these wizards dare to keep an eye on them!
The nobles, cursing inwardly, put on a brave front: "Your Majesty! Please issue an order to cooperate with the Truth School swiftly!" They fully embodied the phrase "from arrogance to humility."
Feeling frustrated, the nobles made up their minds that once they returned home, they would summon all their children and send them to learn magic! Only by mastering magic could they rise above others. There was no need to feel so constrained, with their lives and deaths in someone else's hands.
Perhaps, with enough power, the throne could rightfully belong to their family!
The king sighed, waved his hand, and ordered someone to bring paper and pen, drafting the decree on the spot.
