As they gradually converged, drawing ever closer, the two snakes began to flick their tongues at each other, raising their upper bodies and swaying to the left.
The Snake Elder pointed at the two snakes and said, "There's no need for such trouble; I happen to keep these little fellows and often see them fight."
The figure in the black robe said nothing more but exchanged a knowing glance with the Snake Elder before slowly unfurling a scroll with both hands. It wasn't that this task was particularly strenuous; he merely wanted to avoid any misunderstandings with the Snake Elder, ensuring that he could be seen clearly in every movement he made.
As the scroll unfurled, a faint light flickered and drifted toward the two snakes at an incredibly slow pace. A glimmer of understanding flashed in the Snake Elder's eyes. No wonder that Grand Mage had refrained from using Covenant Magic seven times hundreds of years ago; it was quite a hassle to gather the Seven Great Lords to sign an oath.
It seemed that this Covenant Magic had such limitations; given its speed of flight, even a small child could easily evade it. Animals were unable to sense the danger of light, so the two opposing snakes, flicking their tongues at each other, remained still and took the brunt of the Covenant Magic.
In the next moment, as if they had recognized each other, the two snakes transformed into flowing silk, intertwining gracefully and lowering their heads in a display of mutual respect, their hostility dissipating.
"Is this a special effect? Or does the crew have a snake charmer? How can they make both snakes perform so well?"
"Must be computer-generated. I can't believe the crew could control snakes so effectively."
"Maybe they really do have a mage on set who can actually use Covenant Magic."
The black-robed figure then tore up the scroll he had just used and asked, "Old sir, are you willing to sign this agreement?"
The Snake Elder did not immediately agree but calmly observed while secretly employing some unique magic to investigate quietly. He found no traces of mental or charm magic.
After comprehensive judgment, it was highly likely that it was indeed the effect of Covenant Magic. He then lowered his guard significantly and laughed, "Haha, it seems I was overly cautious and misunderstood you. No wonder it's called Covenant Magic; its effects are truly remarkable. If possible, I would love to study it further."
The black-robed figure also breathed a sigh of relief and pulled out another scroll identical to the previous one. "No problem. Once we successfully develop it, we will replicate many Covenant Magic Scrolls. However, if you wish to study it, we will need you to sign an agreement with us first."
"That is only natural." The Snake Elder agreed while signaling for the black-robed figure to proceed with his magic, all while quietly gathering his own magical energy.
At that moment, a snake coiled around the elder slowly slithered down to the ground, maintaining an appropriate distance from him.
The snake moved closer to the figure in the black robe.
Though the two scrolls appeared identical on the outside, it did not mean that the magic inscribed within them was the same. If this magic differed in any way from the Covenant Magic previously unleashed by the black-robed figure, the Snake Elder would not hesitate to act.
The black-robed figure slowly unfurled one of the scrolls, and a similar glow began to emanate from it, with a thread of light weaving into his own body while the rest floated toward the elder.
Not noticing any differences, the elder felt a wave of anxiety wash over him. For three years, he had been suppressed by the Truth School, and with a final surge of determination, he chose not to evade. He allowed the light to penetrate his being, and in the next moment, he experienced a strange sensation—he found himself feeling no wariness toward the black-robed figure. In fact, he secretly commanded the snake to retreat quickly.
Impressive, truly impressive! The Snake Elder hurriedly checked himself but found no traces of magic; yet he could not summon any hostility toward the black-robed figure. He even felt an urge to assist him.
The black-robed figure then smiled easily and produced more than ten scrolls at once. "If you know the locations of other Evil Mages, I would appreciate it if you could invite them as well. Let us form an alliance."
The remaining scrolls were offered for the elder's research. Once he had invited the other Evil Mages, we would gather in the Azure Radiance Kingdom to plunder valuable resources from the Truth School together.
