However, it was impossible for all the students to return indoors. The Water Magic Major, Weather Magic Major, and even the Magical Plant Cultivation Pool would still have people present. This group of Evil Mages had interfered with Divination Magic using a Magical Tool or perhaps some form of magic.
Reiner was determined to find the answers and planned to seek out two old friends. Just then, the Prophet Mage called out to him, asking him to help find an Ordinary Crystal Ball from the past. The interference with Divination Magic by the Evil Mages was merely a guess; it would be better to gather more evidence.
The magical crystal ball he had exchanged for points from Xu Lie could amplify Prophecy Magic, but the Ordinary Crystal Ball wouldn’t. If the predictions made by the Ordinary Crystal Ball turned out to be worse than those made by the magical crystal ball, it would confirm that the Evil Mages had indeed interfered with the prophecy.
This simple comparison left the audience astonished.
"Wow, magic is convenient! I thought only Xu Lie had this ability, but it turns out there are many talented individuals at Truth School who can see through things," one spectator remarked.
"What are these Evil Mages even doing? They’ve already interfered with the prophecy, and it seems they’re going to lose badly," another added.
"Yuzhi is just too shameless," someone else chimed in.
Reiner thought this made sense and began rummaging through boxes alongside the Prophet Mage. After opening three cardboard boxes without finding anything, they were left feeling awkward. Eventually, they discovered the Ordinary Crystal Ball tucked away at the bottom of a storage locker. It was dusty but still usable.
The Prophet Mage didn’t concern himself with the dust; instead, he took out a special potion he had exchanged for points from Xu Lie and drank it before explaining, "This potion can temporarily enhance my Prophecy Magic range, allowing me to predict events until the end of the month."
He then cast his spell and quietly observed the abstract images on the dusty crystal ball. Sure enough, this time there was no rain falling; students were going about their normal activities. It was now confirmed that the Evil Mages had indeed interfered with Divination Magic.
Taking advantage of the potion’s effects, the Prophet Mage became resolute and switched back to using the magical crystal ball, casting spells rapidly: "To interfere with Prophecy Magic, they might be using a Magical Tool or perhaps one of the Evil Mages possesses prophetic abilities."
Regardless of how it was done, he needed some information to prevent the Evil Mages from predicting their responses! He refused to believe that they could interfere and prevent him from seeing; he would stir things up even more so they couldn’t see either!
With solid evidence in hand, Reiner stepped outside, not wanting to disturb his friend’s spellcasting any further. He turned to look for Black Mist and Inquilinar. Meanwhile, Xu Lie wasn’t idle either; he first asked Charles about the current strength levels of third-year students compared to second-year students. If they were still manageable, he planned to take them out for some practice.
Charles reassured Xu Lie by indicating that he would teach him the techniques of magical stacking, which put Xu Lie at ease.
On the surface, Truth School appeared to be just as it always was, seemingly oblivious and without any precautions. Even when the large Flying Ship returned with the third batch of students, everything proceeded as usual with a month-long meditation class.
However, the first two batches of students had been discussing the recent increase in combat classes. The third-year students were not overly concerned; the rise in combat classes could be attributed to their educational program. But the second-year students were skeptical. Last year, when the third-year students were in their second year, combat classes had not been so frequent. Why was it that now, as they entered their second year, combat classes were being scheduled in such abundance?
Fortunately, Charles managed to quell this wave of discussion. His excuse was simple: Principal Xu Lie had recently expressed an interest in taking the first two batches of students on outdoor adventures. For safety reasons and to enhance the upperclassmen's personal experiences during these adventures, the school had adjusted the schedule, resulting in more combat classes.
This made the newly enrolled First Graders envious; after all, experiencing magical adventures firsthand was far more enjoyable than merely reading about them in storybooks. Observing the eager expressions of the younger students, the upperclassmen felt a sense of secret satisfaction and shifted their focus back to enthusiastically participating in combat classes.
