At dawn, the sky appeared somewhat chaotic, neither fully bright nor as dark as the deep night.
Before the break of day, Xu Lie had already gathered with Anthony and Charles outside the school. The trio from Reiner was joined by Beric and over a dozen combat mages who had also converged here. They were preparing to hide the students outside the school before the Evil Mages launched their attack, planning to catch them off guard with a surprise ambush.
The senior students had all settled in for rest, taking advantage of the dim light of dawn and some magical assistance from a few mages to conceal themselves in suitable locations. Next came the Idealist Mages, each showcasing their unique abilities.
Daphne casually tossed out something resembling peas; any student who walked toward them would gradually shrink in size. Other mages threw seashells, and similarly, students entering those would also diminish in stature. The methods varied widely, showing no regard for scientific principles or considerations of mass and volume—purely whimsical in nature.
Then there was Enrollment teacher Jia Er, who wasn’t skilled in concealment but could summon over a dozen Shi Golems. They huddled together, encircling a group of students while crouching down to create a rough disguise resembling rocks.
Xu Lie and his companions had gathered primarily to prevent the Evil Mages from seeing through their plans and launching a sudden attack. However, it was somewhat awkward that the Evil Mages had yet to make their move. Anthony and Reiner were collectively focused on their Mage's Seeking Board.
On the board, four directions—north, south, east, and west—each displayed nearly a hundred flickering dots of varying sizes, maintaining about five miles distance from the school. There was no need for further explanation; the Mage's Seeking Board was designed to locate and mark mages.
Five miles away from Truth School, the crude encirclement in all directions clearly indicated the presence of Evil Mages. This scene was enough to leave not only the characters within the story but also the audience outside somewhat stunned.
"How hilarious! Kleift probably never imagined that while he was busy with interference prophecies and rain magic preparing for an ambush, Truth School could see everything clearly," one viewer commented.
"Yuzhi's future is like having time vision; Mage's Seeking Board provides spatial insight—it's a dual perspective on time and space! I can't fathom how Kleift could win," another remarked.
"This is a technological superiority at play! Truth School has long pointed out radar technology while the Evil Mages are still trying to split forces for a sneak attack—this is just a stark difference," someone else noted.
Amidst this chatter, Xu Lie remained focused on his goal of training students. He also wanted to observe Charles' teaching results. At the very least, he needed to show the audience an impressive spectacle of Magic War, right?
Anthony and Charles would only follow Xu Lie’s commands without generating too many independent thoughts unless Xu Lie instructed them to act on their own.
So, following the crowd, Xun Pan remained silent. Reiner, however, was more contemplative: "Since the students are mostly hidden now, should we take the initiative?"
When he mentioned taking the initiative, a look of eagerness spread across Reiner's face. His old friend Inquilinar and the dark mist nearby exchanged glances, somewhat speechless. In the past, Reiner had only engaged in long-range attacks, akin to shooting arrows. But now, under Xu Lie's guidance, he had become enamored with ultra-long-range strikes. As long as the enemy was far enough away, it ignited Reiner's fighting spirit.
There was no rush. Xu Lie held Reiner back slightly, citing the principle that pulling one hair could move the whole body. He turned to ask Daphne and the other teachers, "What do you think? Are all the students hidden?"
Daphne was the first to respond, and the other teachers confirmed that they had assisted the students in finding hiding spots. Inquilinar chimed in as well: "The cafeteria is ready too."
Don't get it wrong; it wasn't that the cafeteria had prepared meals. Long before they set off, almost all the teachers and senior students had already eaten breakfast.
