Living honestly, Jiang Chen had no reason to wipe out their entire clan. After a while, Ni Xingyi returned, and from her expression, it was clear she had faced disappointment.
“Xing Yi, did you see Mengli Delson?” Qin Xusha asked anxiously.
“I did see her, but she only glanced at me and then ignored me. I guess I was being unrealistic, thinking that just seeing her would mean she’d help me. There are so many people who get to see her; if she were willing to help everyone, she’d be overwhelmed,” Ni Xingyi said with a self-deprecating smile. Although she tried to appear carefree, there was a hint of sadness in her eyes.
The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment.
Seeing Ni Xingyi so downcast, Jiang Lu quickly took her hand and said, “Sister Ni, don’t worry. My brother should be able to help you.”
Jiang Lu was a kind-hearted person. Ni Xingyi had taken good care of her over the past few days, and feeling grateful, she naturally wanted to help when she saw Ni Xingyi in trouble.
“Xiao Lu, I appreciate your kindness, but my problem is something your brother can’t help with. Can he really convince Mengli Delson to support me?” Ni Xingyi replied with a laugh.
“Maybe he can? Brother, what do you think?” Jiang Lu asked uncertainly but felt that as long as her brother stepped in, nothing would be impossible.
“Since you’ve asked me to help, I will certainly do so,” Jiang Chen said with a smile. Knowing that his newly recognized sister believed in him made him feel responsible; no matter how difficult the task was, he would not shy away from it—especially since it didn’t seem like a big deal at all.
Although Jiang Chen didn’t have much of a network in Europe, he believed that there was no problem money couldn’t solve. Ni Xingyi’s fashion show next weekend was looking for some big-name celebrities to boost its appeal. So Jiang Chen decided to invite all the celebrities he could think of. Moreover, he wouldn’t need to handle the invitations himself; he could let Jon Delson take care of it. Jiang Chen trusted the old man to get things done.
Ni Xingyi was taken aback as she looked at Jiang Chen, realizing he wasn’t joking, yet still found it hard to believe.
“I appreciate your goodwill, but let’s forget about inviting Mengli Delson. You don’t need to face rejection,” Ni Xingyi said.
“Miss Ni, don’t worry. This isn’t a big deal for me; I won’t need to personally handle it. I’ll arrange everything later,” Jiang Chen replied with a slight smile, his calm demeanor leaving Ni Xingyi in a daze.
“Not a big deal? You can invite Mengli Delson without even showing up yourself?” Ni Xingyi looked at Jiang Chen in shock and disbelief.
Jiang Chen simply smiled and didn’t feel the need to explain further.
“Xing Yi, trust me. With Mr. Jiang’s word, just wait for the surprise to come,” Qin Xusha said with a grin. Someone like Jiang Chen wouldn’t joke about such matters; if it weren’t for Jiang Lu bringing it up, he probably wouldn’t have bothered at all.
Ni Xingyi still found it hard to believe. Just then, the lights in the hall dimmed and a spotlight illuminated the entrance where tonight’s star made her appearance.
The Countess Daughter appeared gracefully in a white mermaid-style off-shoulder evening gown.
“So beautiful!” Jiang Lu gasped with her hand over her mouth.
Even Qin Xusha’s pupils widened slightly in disbelief; it was hard to fathom that such beauty existed in the world. Qin Xusha considered herself extremely beautiful and thought few could surpass her looks, yet tonight she was utterly astonished by the Countess Daughter’s stunning appearance.
