At that moment, Mu Tingxiu resembled a wild beast, his crimson eyes raging with madness. His clothes were disheveled, and his bony hands had been accidentally cut by shards, blood dripping from his fingertips onto the ground.
He seemed oblivious to the pain, breathing heavily. After a moment, he slumped into a chair and raised his hand, his voice hoarse.
“A bunch of useless fools! You can’t even figure out who a person is. What good are you to me?!”
Beside him, a shadow guard stood with his head bowed. The wounds on his body were from the objects Mu Tingxiu had thrown earlier, but he dared not tend to them without permission, allowing the blood to flow until Mu Tingxiu calmed down.
“What could possibly make the prince so furious?”
Hearing the voice, a scholar-like figure entered, wearing a smile and speaking in a bright, clear tone.
“What brings you here?!”
Mu Tingxiu frowned in displeasure as the scholar replied with a grin.
“If I hadn’t come, you might have smashed the entire prince’s residence. What kind of person could make you so concerned?”
Mu Tingxiu's gaze momentarily lost focus before he spoke again. “Recently, I encountered someone who resembles an old acquaintance of mine.”
The scholar poured himself a cup of tea and sipped it slowly, encouraging him to continue. After a while, he finally understood why Mu Tingxiu was so enraged but found it quite puzzling.
Mu Tingxiu was upset over something that seemed too ordinary to warrant such anger. But what could an ordinary person do that was so extraordinary?
“An ordinary person could provoke Mu Junze to such an extent? Even if he dared to defy the heavens, that kind of emotion cannot be faked.”
Yes, he had once been this anxious about someone, how could he not see it? He was the Top Scholar and also became the male consort to Mu Junze. Just these two facts alone were enough to show that he was no ordinary person. But how could he have remained inconspicuous for years without any achievements? The shadow guard hurriedly left, and the man named Zhong Xian repeatedly murmured the name before pausing his actions to call the steward over.

"Yes, Young Master Zhong. There was indeed someone who seemed to be called Xu Mu, but he was later ordered out by the prince."
The two exchanged glances, and Mu Tingxiu finally remembered this matter. Initially, Xu Mu had expressed a desire to join them as a strategist because of a grudge against Mu Junze. After a brief investigation, they found that Xu Mu had no notable achievements to speak of.
Moreover, even his qualifications for the Scientific Examination had been revoked. Considering that there were many people with petty cleverness who held grudges against Mu Junze, he held no significant value and was thus expelled.
He had also instructed the steward not to let just anyone into the residence. According to the steward, after being kicked out, Xu Mu left in a hurry and without lingering.
Zhong Xian looked at the documents on the table and chuckled softly after a moment. "This person is quite interesting. If I guess correctly, he must already harbor resentment towards you. His luck seems quite good; surviving this means he'll surely rise in prominence in the future."
"However," he continued, "he's ungrateful and overly calculating; his interests come first. He’s not reliable but can be easily manipulated—just ensure his interests are secured with enough benefits, and he'll serve you like a dog."
Mu Tingxiu nodded. His anger also stemmed from what Xu Mu had done to Su Che. If it were anyone else, it might not matter as much; perhaps it was because Su Che resembled that person too closely that it stirred some feelings.
But upon reflection, he realized that personally speaking, such a person was nothing but a Villain —when it came down to actions driven by sufficient profit, there was no concept of conscience involved.
Such a person is like a double-edged sword; if used well, they can save a lot of trouble, but when it comes to friends, they lack loyalty. As a partner, they disregard emotions, and as a benefactor, they forget gratitude. If they were kind-hearted, one might even curse them.
"How can such scum deserve to live?"
"I think they're a rare talent. It would be interesting to see what they've accomplished during this time. If they're capable, they could still be useful."
Mu Tingxiu nodded, dismissing the attendants and gazing thoughtfully at Zhong Xian, a sudden smirk appearing on his lips. He reached out and pulled Zhong Xian around in a circle, causing his outer garment to fall to the ground.
Zhong Xian frowned slightly; as Mu Tingxiu approached, he wrapped his arms around Mu Tingxiu's neck and was lifted entirely onto the table. His legs instinctively wrapped around Mu Tingxiu's sturdy waist, his cheeks flushed as he leaned closer, his voice trembling softly against Mu Tingxiu's ear.
"Aren't you afraid I might mind?"
His deep-set eyes concealed any emotion, making him all the more alluring. Mu Tingxiu drew him closer, pressing their bodies together while his other hand slipped beneath Zhong Xian's clothing, eliciting a soft hum from him as his body shivered in response.
"I can see you're quite pleased."
With a gentle push, Zhong Xian leaned back, his throat moving slightly as his gaze became hazy. Amidst the creaking sounds, Mu Tingxiu's voice came out slightly hoarse, as if he were holding back something.
"It’s been a few days… and your tea skills have become… even more impressive…"
His eyes sparkled mischievously as he smiled wickedly, the fingers resting on Zhong Xian's shoulder turning pale from pressure as he shifted slightly.
"Hmm… seeking death!"
The commotion in the room grew louder; Mu Tingxiu occasionally let out furious roars, and for three whole days, Zhong Xian did not leave the room.
On this day, a scout returned with news that Xu Mu was currently conducting business in a remote area to the west. Mu Tingxiu scoffed dismissively. However, when he heard that Xu Mu had managed to turn things around in a short time, he halted his actions and pushed Zhong Xian away from him.
Rising to leave the room, he called for someone to help him change clothes.
"Is there anyone assisting him?"
The scout shook his head; he had discovered that Xu Mu was managing well on his own with the money previously given by Fang Yitong. While ordinary people at this time would likely still be losing money, Xu Mu had already begun making profits, piquing Mu Tingxiu's interest.
"Let's go take a look."
