Yu Songyu followed Chen Lu's gesture and noticed that the people seated were far from friendly; the atmosphere felt off.
"You all enjoy yourselves; I have something to take care of. I’ll be leaving now!"
Yu Songyu sensed that several men were looking at her with obvious intentions, and her instincts told her to leave quickly.
"Hey? Why the rush? Now that you're here, have a few drinks before you go!"
Chen Lu grabbed Yu Songyu's wrist. She was done pretending; after all, Yu Songyu was already like fish on a chopping board at this point.
"What do you mean?" Yu Songyu asked, confused. How could her childhood friend feel so foreign now?
"Literally, it means you should join us for a drink!"
Chen Lu wanted to see how Yu Songyu would react when faced with the boys her parents always compared her to. What would happen if she couldn't escape this time?
She knew exactly what kind of men they were.
"Chen Lu, what are you doing? Let go of Xiao Yu!"
A few people turned to the door, and the voice belonged to a girl with a well-proportioned figure and a beautiful face.

Chen Lu sneered, her demeanor shifting from submissive to mocking, speaking in a condescending tone.
"When we were kids, your family was well-off, and my dad had to bow down to yours just to make a living. You always thought you were better than me, treating me like a servant!"
"Lu, I’ve always considered you a good friend. When did I ever treat you like a servant?"
Yu Songyu noticed Chen Lu's agitation and realized her own precarious situation; it was best not to provoke her for now.
"Lu, when we were little, Xiao Yu would always share her treats and fun with us. You must be misunderstanding something."
No one understood their relationship better than Bai Jie; Xiao Yu had always been kind to them—how could she be accused of treating anyone like a servant?
"Ha! Bai Jie, you're the dumbest one here. That was just her charity; I never needed her pity!"
"But heaven has eyes; her dad finally couldn’t handle the debts and jumped off a building. Our family finally has a chance to rise!"
"How can you think like that? Xiao Yu has helped you countless times since childhood!"
