The face before her was an exact replica of her own. If it wasn’t her, then who could it be? But if it was indeed her, then who was the girl frozen to death? Could it be another version of herself from a parallel world?
Her heart raced with excitement, making it hard to calm down. Now, she couldn’t care less about anything else. As the saying goes, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." Since she had come to this place, why not settle in for a while? Perhaps she would encounter different experiences here.
If only there were some space to store things; otherwise, where would she put Li? But how many good things could there be in this world? Even if there were, it was unlikely that all of them would come her way.
Yu Songyu chuckled at herself; she was really overthinking things. Just as she was about to lie down and sleep, the scene before her suddenly shifted, and she found herself in a cave.
The cave was quite spacious, measuring several hundred square feet. The ground was flat and the view was expansive. Although it was a cave, it wasn’t dark at all. After walking a few dozen steps forward and looking up, she saw an opening above.
The light streaming in illuminated the cave brightly, giving her a feeling akin to looking at the sky from the bottom of a well. Right below the opening was a clear pool of water—wasn’t this just perfect for solving the problem of rainwater flowing in from outside?
A small stream flowed through the entire pool, gently meandering in the opposite direction and extending out of the cave. The water was crystal clear, revealing the bottom, and small grasses and plants grew around it. However, Yu Songyu had never studied such flora, so she didn’t recognize them.
That said, these plants were quite beautiful. Yu Songyu looked around and noticed that aside from this pool, there didn’t seem to be anything particularly special about the cave. But at least its overall size was sufficient to store many things.
She placed Li Xiang inside the cave and sat on a box for a moment of contemplation. She wondered if now that she had the ability to travel through time and space, could she traverse to any place she had been before just by concentrating her thoughts?
Bai Jie was her best friend; she couldn’t help but wonder how she was doing now. Regardless of life or death, she still wanted to see the place where they had attempted suicide—what if there was a glimmer of hope?
Even if it meant finding their bodies, she needed to look for Xiao Jie; she was the most timid among them and couldn’t leave her behind. Although she didn’t want to think about that place or remember it at all, for Xiao Jie’s sake, she was willing to give it a try.
Taking several deep breaths, Yu Songyu focused her mind and held her breath. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in the room where they had taken their lives.
The entire room reeked of blood; without exception, all the girls had been tortured to the brink of death by those demons. Several demons lay sprawled across the table, sound asleep.
Beside her, Bai Jie’s face was pale and lifeless; her lips were devoid of color.
Her wrist was already bandaged, covered in bruises, and there was hardly a spot on her body that was unscathed.
Yu Songyu, suppressing her heartache, focused her thoughts on getting Bai Jie out of there.
Suddenly, someone gripped her ankle tightly. Yu Songyu's heart raced, and she quickly turned her head. Behind her, Chen Luzhi was unrecognizable, blood and hair matted over her eyes.
She clung to Yu Songyu desperately, as if holding onto the last thread of hope, making incoherent sounds. If they continued to get entangled with her, it would likely wake the demons lurking nearby.
Without hesitation, Yu Songyu kicked Chen Luzhi's hand away and took Bai Jie with her into the space.
