It seems this space has some interesting features. Whatever you put in remains unchanged when you take it out, which certainly saves a lot of trouble.
Yu Songyu circled the pool a few times; such a location would be a waste if not utilized. If she blocked the flowing water on both sides with stones, could this pool be used to raise fish? After all, resources in this Era are scarce, especially in winter, when everything is covered in endless white snow. Since her space enjoys spring-like weather all year round, why not make use of it?
Gathering her courage, Yu Songyu bent down and touched the water. It felt warm; could it be spring water? Upon closer inspection, she noticed faint steam rising from the spring. If that were the case, wouldn’t bathing become much more convenient in the future?
Using her limited time, she returned to the modern world, stealthily descending from the terrace. Seeing that her grandmother's room light was still on, Yu Songyu felt a mix of emotions. She didn’t have time to dwell on it and quickly left the yard. This time, she intended to buy some candy to stock up for emergencies. After all, with her increased daily exercise, if she fainted and couldn’t get medical help in time, the consequences would be dire.
Additionally, she selected a few books from the attic bookshelf to keep in her space; they would help pass the time during heavy snowstorms when boredom struck.
Captain Yang had helped her more than once and even saved her life; she felt she should repay him somehow. After pondering for a while, Yu Songyu dismissed that thought. She believed what Captain Yang wanted most was for her to hurry up and repay him. There was no point in being overly sentimental; returning the money was more practical.
She bought plenty of flour, pork, chocolate, and various candies. Finding a secluded spot, Yu Songyu stored everything in her space. To further verify whether the space could preserve items without spoiling, she also bought some fruits and even a bowl of steaming wontons.
After finishing these errands, it was already late at night. She had to rest since she planned to go to town the next day.
Early the next morning, Yu Songyu woke up early to wash up. From her recent interactions, she knew Xu Zhuzhen was a reliable person; finding an ox cart shouldn’t be a problem.
This was her first time shopping in town and in this Era; Yu Songyu felt a bit excited. As the saying goes, shopping is a woman's nature; the joy it brings is irreplaceable.
Before long, loud shouts from Xu Zhuzhen echoed outside the courtyard wall like a gong being struck. Aunt Wang wasn’t prepared for this sudden call and was startled enough that her heart raced wildly.
"Aunt Wang, I'm going to town today to buy some things. Do you need anything?"
"Going to town? Wait a moment!" Aunt Wang said as she hurried into the back room.
Yu Songyu watched Aunt Wang's departing figure, unable to shake off her doubts. Did she really have a shopping list?
Before long, Aunt Wang emerged from the room, clutching something in her hand and directly stuffing it into Yu Songyu's palm.
Yu Songyu unfolded the cloth in her hand to find two large bills and some coins.
"Aunt Wang, just tell me what you want to buy first. You can give me the money when I come back!"
Yu Songyu attempted to return the money to Aunt Wang, but Aunt Wang was surprisingly quick, dodging with both hands behind her back.
"I don't need anything; you keep it and buy something for yourself!"
Yu Songyu understood Aunt Wang's situation well. A young girl from the city had come to this poor mountain village as a sent-down youth and had been tricked into abandoning her belongings. She was essentially left with nothing and was quite pitiful.
Although she didn't have much money herself, she was willing to spare a little to help this child.
A warmth spread through Yu Songyu's heart, and she felt so touched that she didn't know what to say. Her nose tinged with emotion, and her eyes began to well up with tears.
Yu Songyu wasn't someone who cried easily, but this feeling of being cared for and cherished made it hard for her to hold back.
