Yu Songyu was taken away through the back door and pushed into a business van after exiting the narrow alley.
"Where are you taking me?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly, prompting laughter from the men inside the vehicle.
"Hey, this girl isn’t bad-looking. What do you think?" said a man with yellow hair and a lean build, eyeing Yu Songyu with an inappropriate gaze.
"Shut up! The boss hasn’t spoken yet, so who do you think you are?" another man snapped back.
"I’m just asking, what’s the rush?" the yellow-haired man retorted, sulking at the response.
Throughout the journey, Yu Songyu was closely monitored and forbidden from looking out the window. She could only tell that they had been driving for a long time, definitely out of the district.
"Hey, isn’t that car behind us following us?" one of the men driving glanced in the rearview mirror and noticed something was off. The black car had seemingly been tailing them since they left the district.
From the moment Yu Songyu got into the vehicle, they had confiscated her phone, which meant there shouldn’t have been any time to call for help. Could it all just be a coincidence?
Furrowing his brow, one of the men grabbed Yu Songyu's phone and threw it out of the window.
"You!" she exclaimed in shock.
"What do you mean 'you'? Just behave yourself!" The yellow-haired man spoke harshly, venting his frustrations on her as if she were responsible for his earlier embarrassment.
"Listen, brothers," Yu Songyu began cautiously, "we have no grievances against each other, right? I know you’re just doing this for money. I won’t ask too many questions; I just want to know where you plan to take me. Am I being sold or…?"
Seeing her attitude soften, the yellow-haired man eased up a bit as well. Though he didn’t understand the concept of cherishing beauty, it was impossible not to have some thoughts about such a pretty girl right in front of him.
"You might be sent abroad or sold off to some remote mountain area as a daughter-in-law. But honestly, with looks like yours, why not stick with me instead?"
However, this wasn’t a decision he could make alone; he was merely voicing his thoughts. Another man in the vehicle shot him a glare, and realizing he had said too much, the yellow-haired man lowered his head and stopped talking.
It turned out they were human traffickers; no amount of punishment would ever quench their thirst for revenge.
Yu Songyu fell silent, fearing that if she spoke again, she might say something extreme that would jeopardize their situation.
They had to shake them off!
The man beside the yellow-haired one became alert; it was too much of a coincidence. That black car had been tailing them even on the mountain roads.
They drove to a nearby village, one they were familiar with. The village had many forks in the road, and it shouldn’t be difficult to lose the car behind them. However, after winding through the village, by the time they left, the black car had vanished without a trace.
The vehicle continued along the mountain road for several hours, bumping along so much that Yu Songyu felt like she might throw up.
Finally, as dusk approached, they arrived at a small mountain village.
Before getting out of the car, Yu Songyu found her hands bound behind her back and her mouth taped shut. Just like the last time she was captured and taken to Cambodia, she was thrown into a dilapidated shed.
Unfortunately, she had been closely monitored throughout the journey and couldn’t look out the window; otherwise, she might have seized the chance to retrieve her phone and contact the police.
Yu Songyu calmed herself down and thought carefully. When they arrived, it seemed like they had been driving toward the sun.
"Captain Wang, hurry up and get out of that village! My car is most likely heading southwest and has now stopped in a village."
