Looking at her masterpiece, Yu Songyu nodded in satisfaction.
With only some worthless trinkets left, she decided to unleash her creativity. She picked up an ashtray and smashed it onto the floor with a loud crash, shattering it into pieces. Immediately after, she teleported to the kitchen and began to smash pots and pans. Of course, she didn’t forget to pull the power switch; after all, if she was going to play a ghost, there had to be an atmosphere.
After finishing her chaotic work, she planned to go into her space to put on some makeup. Since she was acting, she wanted to do it right.
"Master! Master!"
Chen Dexing hurriedly tried to turn on the lights, only to find that the power was out again. A chill ran down his spine. The others were too frightened to move, hiding in their rooms and not daring to come out. Chen Luzhi was even more cunning; ever since he learned about the strange happenings at home, he had moved out.
Now, Chen Dexing was hiding behind the master as they made their way into the hall, preparing to perform an exorcism.
What is this?
The two were stunned by the sight before them. The hall was incredibly spacious, as if it had just been robbed!
"Master, what... how could this happen?"
Chen Dexing stammered, feeling that this was too bizarre. He had no idea when his house had been emptied.
The master gazed at the empty hall, lost in thought. After so many years in this line of work, he had never encountered such a strange occurrence. It was astonishing that there could be such greedy demons in this world; even his ritual tools like the vermilion brush and inkstone hadn’t been spared.
"Boss Chen, go pull the power switch!"
The master forced himself to remain calm. He felt that this exorcism was unlike any other; he couldn't afford to fail this time. Otherwise, all his years of hard-earned reputation would be ruined.
"Master, I... I’m too scared to go!"
"What about the backup power? There must be a backup!"
"I... I’m too scared to go!"
Chen Dexing was indeed frightened; in this darkness, encountering a ghost would be terrifying enough, but even running into a person could scare him half to death.
The master shot Chen Dexing a glance, clearly unimpressed. It seemed that the wealthier one became, the more they valued their own life. The once impressive demeanor and spirit of Boss Chen had faded.
Then, the master pulled out a piece of yellow paper and held it between two fingers. With his other hand, he drew symbols in the air above the paper while chanting softly.
"Bright and radiant, as the sun rises in the east, I grant this talisman the power to sweep away misfortune. With the water of Sanmei on my lips and light like the sun in my eyes, I capture ghosts with the Tianpeng Warrior and dispel illness with the Zhen Sha Jin Gang. Subdue demons for good fortune, swift as the law commands!"
The tip of his fingers ignited the talisman, emitting an eerie green light.
Yu Songyu had discovered that during her recent travels between spaces, she could sense events occurring outside if she focused hard enough. At this moment, she had painted her face a ghastly white and used lipstick to create realistic bloodstains around her eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. She smeared red across various parts of her body.
After finishing these preparations, she felt something was still missing. She rummaged through a box and found a loose white robe to wear. Letting her hair down and tousling it with her hands added to her eerie appearance.
To test her transformation, she stood before a mirror.
Oh no!
The moment Yu Songyu saw her reflection, every hair on her body stood on end as a chill ran down her spine. What kind of filthy thing was this? She couldn't sense its location or presence at all!
