Yang Qinghe accepted it graciously, feeling quite pleased. What did this mean? Could it be that the young girl had some feelings for him?
After lunch, Yang Qinghe had to attend a meeting at Headquarters, so he left first.
Li Xiuzhen was forcibly kept behind by Aunt Wang to have lunch. After finishing the meal, she obediently helped Aunt Wang clear the dishes.
Feeling full and satisfied, Yu Songyu planned to take a short nap for an hour before heading into town. Just as she was about to close the door, she heard hurried footsteps approaching. Before she could react, Wang Jianjun's striking face suddenly appeared in front of her, startling her greatly.
"You scared me to death!" Yu Songyu exclaimed, clutching her chest as she felt her heart racing.
"Sorry! I heard the door was closing and hurried over," Wang Jianjun said, a bit embarrassed for being so reckless.
Fortunately, it was Yu Songyu who was closing the door; if it had been Aunt Wang, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
"Look, this is the hind leg of that wild boar. I brought it over for you and Aunt Wang to enjoy," Wang Jianjun said as he followed Yu Songyu into the yard. His gaze inadvertently caught sight of a pile of wild chickens in the corner outside the chicken coop.
"Hey? Did Captain Yang come by?" he asked.
"Yeah, he ate and then left!" Yu Songyu replied casually.
Wang Jianjun couldn't help but grumble internally about Yang Qinghe not bringing him along, clearly wanting to keep all the good food to himself, but he didn't show it on his face.
After helping to hang up the pig leg, he turned to Yu Songyu and said, "Xiao Yu, you all take a rest. I'm heading back now!"
"Wait a moment!" Yu Songyu hurried into the house and came out with a pair of cotton gloves and knee pads, handing them to Wang Jianjun.
"My parents sent these over; there are several pairs. Take them; they'll keep you warm!"
Yu Songyu knew that one should reciprocate kindness. Since he brought pork over, it was only right to return the favor.
"Huh? Why are you suddenly giving me something?" Wang Jianjun asked, feeling a bit excited at receiving gifts from Yu Songyu.
"Don't overthink it. I'm new here, and you've all taken good care of me. I truly appreciate it!"
"This quality is really good. Thank you, Xiao Yu. I'll accept it!"
Wang Jianjun said as he neatly folded the knee pads and gloves together, tucking them into his pocket with great care.
After sending Wang Jianjun back inside, Yu Songyu felt that since they treated each other as friends, she should be fair to everyone. She took out a pair of women's gloves and knee pads and handed them to Li Xiuzhen.
Li Xiuzhen was deeply touched and worked even harder selling goods in the afternoon than usual. Today was also quite good; the socks were quickly sold out. Seeing that there was still some time left, the two of them decided to take a stroll around the Supply and Marketing Cooperative.
At this hour, there were still plenty of people in the Supply and Marketing Cooperative. Yu Songyu suddenly felt that always setting up a stall wasn't a sustainable solution; she needed her own store. This way, no matter how cold or rainy it got, she wouldn't have to hide away anymore. Plus, having a fixed storefront would help prevent losing some regular customers.
Yu Songyu was a person of action; once she had this idea, she wanted to prioritize making it happen. However, her current financial situation probably wouldn't allow for it just yet. But that didn't stop her from selling goods while searching for a store! As the saying goes, "A bridge will naturally appear at the riverbank." Who knows? She might just come across the perfect storefront when her savings are sufficient!
