"Miss, we don't allow photos or check-ins here. All the antiques we sell are genuine, and if you accidentally damage something, you might not be able to afford the cost!"
The female clerk, dressed in professional attire that accentuated her perfect figure, looked Yu Songyu up and down with a disdainful expression.
Yu Songyu was displeased by her condescending attitude and spoke up immediately. "Who told you I came here to take photos?"
"Hmph!" The clerk scoffed dismissively, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "If you're not here to take pictures, then what else could you possibly want? Are you here to buy antiques? I've seen plenty of girls like you—vain and thinking that posting a few photos online will give them something to brag about. It's truly laughable!"
"You’re not wrong; I’ve seen plenty of clerks like you too. You collect a paycheck from your boss but don’t bother to serve customers seriously. Just because you work in a luxury goods store, you think it elevates your status? Which antique here belongs to you? Which one can you claim as your own?"
"You!"
The female clerk was infuriated by Yu Songyu's words, her earlier arrogance quickly fading away. Just as she was about to tell Yu Songyu to leave, a calm and deep voice came from behind her.
"What’s going on?"
Realizing it was her boss approaching, the clerk quickly composed herself and adopted a sweet tone. "Boss, this young lady wanted to take photos in our store. I told her that the antiques are valuable and if damaged, she would have to compensate, so she can't just take pictures."
Her voice was now soft and charming, completely shedding the arrogance she had displayed earlier as she gazed at the man with flirtatious eyes. "I hope you can understand, miss; we really can't allow photos."
The man appeared kind and was likely in his fifties or sixties. Dressed in traditional Chinese clothing made from expensive fabric, he exuded an air of sophistication.
"I never said I was here to take photos. Does everyone in your store suffer from delusions?" Yu Songyu found the clerk's hypocritical demeanor repulsive and spoke with a sharp tone.
"Oh? Then what are you here for?"
The older man maintained his smile, intrigued by Yu Songyu's response. "Do you accept antiques here?"
"Miss, please come in! Let me pour you a cup of tea!"
The old man extended a hand, gesturing for Yu Songyu to enter, while also instructing a waitress to come over and serve tea. Although the young waitress wore an unwilling expression, she had no choice but to comply since it was the boss's order.
Yu Songyu first took out the piece of jade engraved with inscriptions from her backpack, deciding to test the waters.
"Miss, is this your own?"
Observing the boss's kind demeanor, he didn't seem like a deceitful merchant.
"It’s a family heirloom. My ancestors were wealthy merchants and even produced a Jinshi!"
Yu Songyu's statement wasn't entirely unfounded; after all, she had acknowledged Grandma Wu as her grandmother, and her ancestors indeed were wealthy merchants who had produced a Jinshi.
"Oh? Since your ancestors were wealthy merchants, it seems you have quite a few valuable items in your possession?"
The boss shifted his gaze from the Ancient Jade to Yu Songyu with keen interest.
"How much is this jade worth?"
Yu Songyu felt there was no need to divulge too much information to him and directly inquired about the price.
"Well, if it's not worth much, I can always visit a few more shops."
